Food was ok but obviously something went wrong in the kitchen… Our plats just took forever to arrive. Not recommended if in a hurry. I am afraid to say that this place is more going downhill that up.

Came in here for breakfast on Sunday. Fairly quiet, a few customers and one waiter. I quite liked the booth seating and the ceiling is beautiful. We ordered two traditional breakfasts with poached eggs, along with eggs benedict. Unfortunately, all 6 eggs were completely overcooked! No runny orange egg yolk, just a solid yellow mass. The ultimate disappointment! We asked for scrambled eggs to replace the eggs, and they happily obliged. They were not good. A bit over salted, under stirred and sat in water. That being said, it’s not all bad. The bacon was cooked well and it is evident some of the ingredients are of a higher quality. Just need to work on cooking it right!

This particular Browns outlet is a true classic — amazing how popular it still is after all these years … not much of a surprise though as the mix is just right: relaxed atmosphere, good food, great service … my default fave whenever I’m exhausted from too much shopping, gallery visits or sightseeing. My most recent visit was a great success with a friend visiting from Germany — she really wanted to visit a traditional pub but we just didn’t fancy the football crowds. At Browns we got the typical British look, fish and chips teamed with a nice glass of bubbly — the perfect boozer for girls about town!

As a visitor from the states, I was very pleased with my meal. I got the crab and prawn linguini and my boyfriend got the fish pie, both excellent. The cocktails are also delicious and freshly garnished.

I had never been to the Brown’s chain restaurants before a work holiday party. I was very impressed with the level of service and food quality throughout the entire afternoon. We had a private area of the restaurant for the luncheon, and then later, we had a back room for more drinks. Had the butternut squash soup, the beef wellington, and the crème brûlée for dessert. It was one of the best beef wellington dishes that I’ve had in London, or rather, England. Drinks are a tad expensive, but for Mayfair, I’m not surprised. Would come here for afternoon drinks or a huge luncheon.

I’ve been coming here for the last 15 years and unfortunately the service and quality has been steadily going down hill. It’s okay, the food is hit or miss. Got Steak Pie twice this last trip and both times only had one small chunk of meat in it. Flatbread pizza was really dry. It feels like they’re just going through the motions and knocking out dishes since they’re so busy. The service is pretty hit or miss. It’s a good place to go and get some drinks or a quick bit before the theater. In the area, it’s one of your best options, but that’s because there’s a lot of bad ones, chains, etc. Have been to other Brown’s in England and they’ve been much better.

Was pleasantly surprised by this Mayfair establishment –one I had walked pasted for years. But when someone took me there for lunch I had no choice but to go in. And I had a very enjoyable meal! There is a very relaxed atmosphere in this West End French bistro. A tempting menu where I chose the fish of the day with roast veggies which was absolutely delicious. I was trying to be healthy and I have to say it was so good I felt guilty for feeling I hadn’t denied myself enough it was that satisfying. Friends with me also had equally good meals and everyone at the table was happy with their orders. The service was friendly and well done. Overall just a very nice meal out.

The fish and chips didn’t quite live up to the other reviews, and the quality of service was subpar even for London. This review gets a generous 3-star. There are much better restaurants for price.

I think this is by far one of my favorite restaurants in 2012. The food: AMAZING!!! Highly recommend their Steak and Mushroom pie(see photo). The pie is just thin enough to get that buttery taste and the cruchness, but not too much to feel that’s all you are getting of the pie; the sauce is rich and creamy; the steak is so tender and soft that they almost melt in your mouth… I think it’s one of The Best I have ever had, it is certainly to die for. All the other food are very good quality too(i.e. the Tuna starter — who says you can’t get fresh sea food in London?) The atmosphere: I have been here during lunch as well as dinner, both occasions it was busy but not TOO busy allowing you to fully enjoy the atmosphere and the food. The decoration of the restaurant gives a clean nice vintage feel, mixing it with the traditional British cuisine. Price: considering it is in the middle of Mayfair and the quality of the restaurant, the price is very reasonable! The main courses are in average £10−15. If you order a main and a drink only, you can easily walk out with just paying £15(say you order the pie and a soft drink) The staff are young and trendy(and incidentally good looking!) but also friendly and attentive. Try this place guys! Thumb up!

Always have a great time here. Décor is classy, service is spot on and the food. well, I’ve rarely had better. Suggestion: try one of their many cocktails with your meal instead of wine/champagne. They really are delish!

What a great place for lunch — fish pie, goat cheese and microgreens and a great malbec for lunch. Place smelled great and had excellent service. Not too crowded and what a menu — how many favorites can you find and its a chain — located nearby everything.

Nice place on good days the staff can be engaging and pleasant, on others you can see they are rushed. I would recommend it primarily for the drinks and pudding.

Good buzzy restaurant/bar, quite extensive menu, good standard. You can book tables just for drinks in advance.

Having walked past this bar/restaurant a few hundred times, I finally decided to bite the bullet and have lunch in there. And I’m very glad I did. I expected it to be a little too much on the upper side of class for me, but I didn’t get that feeling at all. Although I barely filter out any accent besides the proper queen’s English, I really felt comfortable here. The service was fantastic, because considering it was completely full, they still managed to serve us almost immediately after sitting down. The waiter was unbelievably patient at our customisation of various meals on the menu, and service with a smile is an understatement. And to top it all off, the food really was top notch.

Despite being a chain, Browns offers very good food. Try the Browns burger or the fish pie. The food is English and Mediterranean, as they serve a variety of things, from pastas to burgers to kidney pie. Try the delicious mussels with a creamy wine sauce.
