Came here for lunch last week. It looks like a quick burger joint and that is what it is. I decided on the hot dog(plus chips & drink = meal deal). It was exactly what I wanted & did not disappoint. My friends had a bun less burger(don’t judge me by my friends!) and my other friend went the full hog with a burger with the lot(cheese, egg & bacon — I think). I did get to taste the burger patties and they were OK. I’d probably go back for the hot dog though.

Good quality beef and not trying to do too much with an extensive menu. Their special sauce provides a nice tang and the onion rings are great compliment to their burgers. Portions are a little small for the price though, even for the City, and the line seemed to back up quite a bit even at 1pm, past the major lunch rush. If everyday prices were the same as those that are available on their Monday and Tuesday specials, I’d be a repeat customer for sure.

Another burger place in London… The burger was underwhelming, as others have said. The meat was overcooked and over salted. In light of that, the only topping I could taste was the mustard(or at least I thought it was mustard… could have been their burger sauce.) With so many burger places in town, I would give this place a miss.

Work close and have been 4 times, sometimes on a voucher and others full price. I really want them to do well and want to like it more. The first burger was nice and pink so I was hopeful. But since then they have all been dry and overdone — you can’t even order it up medium rare. So on that basis it is too expensive. Having a decent quality patty is no good if you cook it to death, may as well go to a pub and get a burger meal deal or some such. Oh well.

As a fan of the burger I came across Burger Pit on twitter — actually they sought me out. Must have an algorithm to find people who follow P&B and Honest! As I’m in town for a holiday I decided to seek them out — and some seeking was involved! As a restaurant in the city it’s a bit far from anywhere else for a Friday night, I guess that’s why I’m the only one here. Well, could be. The food, then. Could be another reason. Whilst the meat was very nice, great flavour & nicely charcoaled in parts and the salad was perfect the rest left much wanting. Fresh from the grill my bun was sodden & falling apart, the cheese was there in spirit but not in flavour & the chips were decidedly bought in. Overall a nice burger, not a bad price, but I think I’ll be sticking to Honest Burgers from now on.

Burger Pit is the latest in the burger shops to open in the Capital and sticks with a simple menu of four offerings: Burger, Steak Burger, Veggie Burger, and a Hot Dog. Food is served in red plastic fast food baskets and the décor is Spartan at best. Yet the staff are welcoming, the kitchen crew quick and capable, and the burgers themselves are fairly tasty. My co-worker and I opted for the steak burger(at 50% off it was too good to resist) which came out within 5 minutes wrapped in greaseproof paper. The bun was nicely toasted, the burger grilled to a pink medium, and a reasonable amount of salad and sauce was on top. Actually, that’s a point worth noting — for once the burger was perfectly topped with enough for flavour and crunch without being messy. I do enjoy a good messy burger(thinking of P&B), but when you’re heading back to work the last thing you need is a smear of sauce on your shirt. Taste-wise, the beef patty was good but could have used a dash more salt. I’d have also liked a slice of cheese but failed to notice that it was on the board as a side. I think that might be a fairly common miss and it would be great if the staff could check when you order. The bun wasn’t anything special but held together well — I prefer the sweetness of a brioche bun but can’t fault Burger Pit’s offering. Size-wise, the burger is average for London and roughly the size of a softball. It’s not going to leave you stuffed but more than adequate for a lunch. Special note of the fries which were crisp with clean flavours and perfectly salted with a crisp crust. I demolished my side of fries and about half of my co-workers. At full price I would struggle with the steak burger meal(including fries and a can of soda) which rings in at £14.50. The regular burger(and veggie burger) meal comes in at £10 and the dog is the cheapest at £9. You can also get the burger alone with the regular being £6.50 and the steak burger a whopping £11.

This place just opened this week so we decided to stop in and try it out since it was so close to our office. Overall a bit underwhelmed. The patty was OK. Thick and juicy in parts, but dry and unamaginative in others. The form of it was a little too perfect and uniform, so there wasn’t really any areas that could get a bit more crispy than others. Also meant the edges were dry inside. Kind of reminds me of those fresh pre-made patties you can get at Waitrose. Good patties, but something I can do just as well at home. A decent flamegrilled flavoring though. The bun was just OK too. They grilled it a bit which is nice, but it seemed it was trying to be fancier than it tasted. The bun was also way oversized to the Patty(actually I think the bun was a decent size, but the Patty was too small). The condiments were a let down too. First cheese isn’t included!(REALLY?!). You can get lettuce, tomato, onion, gerking, and burger sauce for free. I got all but the tomato. They really skimped here. A single small slice of red onion, a humurously little amount of shredded iceburg lettuce, 1 small slice of a gerkin, and enough burger sauce that covered only 1⁄3 of the bun. These condiments could have rescued the underwhelming Patty but they didn’t. Also the price. £10 for a Burger+Fries+Drink?! I’m sorry, but NO(oh and cheese was an extra £ .50). £10.50 for a burger that bordered on a really good caffeteria burger, I don’t think so, I’ve had better burgers for less. If the combo price(WITHCHEESE) was closer to $ 7 I may return. But unless the quality improves, or the price is cut, good luck, but I’m not coming back.
