Love Cadbury Crème Eggs? Then you’re in for an eggs-citing time if you visit the Crème Egg Café in Soho. In the latest of quirky pop ups, Cadbury has launched a Cadbury Crème Egg café whose theme is, well, Crème Eggs. The entire café is obsessed with the crème egg, fronted by neon lights explaining that you’ll be having a ‘goo time’, and laced with mousetraps whose bait is crème eggs all around. The entire café is of course, decked out in purple, red and yellow. We’re not really surprised that presale tickets sold out. Although we didn’t prebook our tickets, we still decided to brave the January cold and queue for a placeon Friday evening. Our group of four got in relatively fast(around 20 minutes) after we started queuing at 5pm. The café itself isn’t very big, consisting of three floors. We started off at the café on the second floor, which features four items on the menu. All four of these items(which were designed in conjunction with nutritionists too apparently!) were simple, easy to make snacks, from a chocolatey spin on the egg toastie, to the Crème Egg and strawberries, which was exactly what it sounds like. Each item on the menu costs £4, and comes with either tea or coffee. It seems like a steep price, but considering that all proceeds go to charity(The Prince’s Trust) and you get to experience the café in all its quirkiness, it seems a fair price to pay. Although not the most comfortable seats(there’re only seven tables!), the off kilter décor will stimulate your conversation for the entire duration of your stay. The most exciting part of the café by far would have to be the ball pit on the third floor. A limited number of people are let in at any one point of time, and when you do get to it, you’ll release the inner child within. It’s surprisingly fun, and feels almost like you’ve just gotten a massage. All in all, a pretty fun time spent at this weird concept. Definitely, it’s overpriced if you think of it merely as paying for food, but you’re not here for the gastronomical wonders of a crème egg — you visited because you wanted to take cool Instagram worthy photos, and that’s exactly what the café delivers. Don’t forget to press the buzzer on the ground floor, and hope that the gods of chocolate bless you with an extra egg for the road!
