Just bought two ‘full breakfasts’ for takeaway but when i got back to the hotel one was missing eggs. Seriously? Couldn’t really have known earlier because they stacked one takeaway box over the other and it’s the bottom one that’s incomplete. Maybe it’s their way of cheating their customers so beware. Also, both breakfasts were swimming in baked beans. Guess that’s what you get for £3.95 per brekkie.

I was so disgusted with the sandwich I just got from this place that I literally threw it in the trash and opened my computer to write a review about it. I went here because I was starving and needed some food. I walked in and they had a few sad looking baguettes laid out on the counter which they were selling for 1 pound. I picked the least sad-looking one(ham and cheese) and asked if I could possibly get it warmed. I got a quick and stern«no». Obviously I wasn’t expecting much from the sandwich they were trying to sell off for a pound, but what I got was an insult. I was shocked they would even have the audacity to sell something like that, even for a pound. The bread was completely soggy on the bottom and inedible. The lettuce was all browned, the tomatoes and cucumbers were shriveled up and lifeless, and the ham and cheese was hard and dry around the edges. After picking it apart and trying to find SOMETHING edible in the sandwich, I took a bite of the tomato which was SALTY! I spit it out and had had enough of this crap. NEVERAGAIN! Go to Sandwich Shop 2 doors down. Way better!

Café Deco serves possibly the best pain au chocolat that I’ve ever eaten — crunchy and flakey on the outside, filled with the perfect ratio of rich chocolate on the inside. Beyond delicious pastry, Café Deco is wonderfully charming, and certainly spacious enough to linger. Prices are entirely reasonable — even more of a reason to visit!

I really like this place. It is a french patisserie like you find quite a few in London. The coffee is good, the variety of filled baguettes and croissants is average french standard I would say — which is nice for London. The waitresses probably from Poland and therefore as french as they come in London. They do offer some newspapers, although not many. The one thing that makes me come here is that it is one of the few spots in Gloucester Road where you are sitting in bright sunlight early in the morning while all the other shops are still in the shadow.

This place generates in me a resounding ‘meh’ of disinterest. The service was fine, nothing special. The tea was okay. I make better tea at home. The sandwiches were tasty, but not really worth the price((high, but given the area, not excessively)). The ambience, décor, and overall look of the interior gives the impression of a street café that’s been roofed over and walled in; metal chairs and tables, tiled floor, walls barren but for a few Tamara de Lempicka prints. The only point of warmth, welcome or even interest is the vast array of cakes inside the window. I didn’t try one; maybe if I had I’d feel more charitably disposed towards Café Deco, as they certainly look delectable. Anyway, it’s not objectionable in any way, it just isn’t extraordinary either. Except maybe for the cakes.
