This guy’s street coffee must be tasted: Really cool guy, really good coffee.

Good stuff! Shoreditch’s eminent neighborhood coffee guide, Colleen C, recommended Igor a while ago, but I never actually got to try his coffee until a recent mid-morning flight out of Heathrow took me past his cart right as he was setting up. I hadn’t had time to make coffee at home, so the timing was perfectly serendipitous. I got the very first double shot latte of the day, along with an almond croissant, and it definitely hit the spot. Igor was friendly and quick, and has good packaging for food and drink, essential since it’s a takeaway-only business. As with some other very good but not exotic neighborhood coffee spots, I would put his coffee in the«tasty and easy to drink» category rather than the vaunted«blow your mind with richness and flavor» section occupied by Ozone, Tap, and company. But for quick, inexpensive, and very good coffee, I like Igor. The only reason I’m deducting one star is for the croissant, which was not super fresh despite the early hour, and cakey in texture rather than buttery and flakey. Ah well, coffee only next time!

I FOUNDHIM! Ok actually my neighbor found him(and must realize this is a very important part of my life — as we’ve never interacted much before), but no bother — Igor has been located! He has moved his coffee truck of wonders just down Old Street near the entrance to the station(NE entrance). (ps — thank you neighbor!) Thank GOD, it’s been a rough go the last few weeks. Might need to get him a twitter handle or something in case of emergencies. Regular life resumes…
