Everything here is a £1. Yes you did hear me right, everything hear is one squid! The portions are a bit wee though so you might end up spending £2 –3 in total. But that’s not bad for lunch in the modern day. I enjoyed my quinoa and kale pot, but my shakshuka wasn’t that fantastic — hey that’s ok though — it was only a pound! Unfortunately the café scrimps on napkins to get the price down. And my straw was rubbish, I couldn’t get it through the plastic of my bargainous fresh £1 juice without it bending. Overall, yeah it’s a £1– uno poundo, ein quid. Worth checking out.

I’ve heard quite a bit about Caffix in the papers, so thought I’d check it out. Their moto is ‘good food for less’, and the sell here/draw is that everything in shop is £1 — so basically it’s like a pound stretcher, but for lunch! Many have criticised this place in the press regarding small portion sizes and that this is a bit of a rip off — i.e. you’ll get half a sandwich or baguette… However I don’t think that £2 for a baguette is that bad. In fact it’s much cheaper than other places(I’ve noticed quite a few in the surrounds streets selling sandwiches cheaply — trying to keep up with — but still unable to match caffix’s prices), with the bonus being, and this is the reason I like this place primarily; 1) Variety. If you want a light lunch, or you need a sandwich and a half, then you can decide on the potion size — but also you can have choice and variety… i.e. Half beef baguette and half a tuna sandwich! Other reasons I love this place; 2) The food is healthy and freshly made. They sell some yummy salads, I love the healthy kale option, which you can spice up with pots of other things, depending on what you fancy. 3) I am a bit of a sucker for falafels — and they do a lovely pot of three with spicy hummus. Overall everything I’ve tried is great — falafels, beef baguette and kale salad being the highlights, however and I haven’t tried the cakes, but they do have a good selection of them and desserts such as yogurts. Overall a very affordable and healthy option for lunch.

The poundland of cafes is here with Caffix London, except that the food is made on site and is lot fresher. They have a huge variety of food such as sandwiches, salads, muffins and even on some days jalapeño flavoured falafels. The coffee cup sizes are a tad small compared to the likes of PRET, Starbucks etc… but you can get lattes, mochas and even fresh juice for that magic price of £1.
