I stopped in here for a lunch because I was working nearby. It’s not terrible, but I’m willing to walk a bit and find somewhere else to eat. This was the one and only time I have ever taken a pint back to a bar as it was undrinkable. To their credit, they replaced it with no questions asked. They simply shrugged. The fish and chips was passable, but there were a surprising lot of bones in the fish. I have been here a few times. The best part about it is that their beer prices are fair and there’s lots of space. It’s not particularly remarkable, though. Its location is its main asset.

If you are in a large group… this would be one of those bars for you! It is spacious to say the least. To be honest, I had no clue where in London I was until I saw a sign that said St. Katharine Docks as we were walking to the bar. There is some seating outside, but not nearly as much as there is inside. It took forever to get someone to come over and get us drinks. It was £7.90 for a vodka and coke and a small red wine. Yes… I know. Red wine at a bar like this??? I was on a date… confessions of the single girl and online dating. I thought I would play it classy even though I knew the moment I met up with him that it wasn’t going to work. The guy that did eventually help us out was really nice although the one thing I don’t like… I know the red wine isn’t quality stuff, but no need to mix it together when the bottles are low. Seriously. I may not be a sommelier, but I know when it isn’t good. It wasn’t awful, but I’d rather go somewhere else.

This Cape(there are several around London) is a decent bar situated opposite the Waitrose off Vaughn Way in Wapping. It used to be more South African-themed than with its recent(December 2010) menu change. They do a decent burger, sausage and mash, and club sandwich, but the boerwors(Cape sausage) and Cape onion rings(fried but not battered) are missed. They also have quite a few flat screen TVs and a couple of pool tables in case you want to watch or play games.
