Very good food, quite hard to book a table, a bit overpriced. The sea bass risotto was one of the top 3 I’ve ever had.

Top quality classic french food set in a higly artesan style restaurant. No menu just a simple chalk board a ltd but varied selection of food. We started with a selection of charcutetie — different styles and flavours but all excellent. Then sea bass with spinach and mushrooms, tremondous flavours just a joy to eat. My guest had the duck confit, very rich and delicious. Ltd but excellent cheese to finish. Ecletic red wine list — had a nice burgundy. More familiar white wine list. Great restaurant

This was a very authentic, true to form French hidden gem. After drinks at The Shard observation deck my friend(knowing I am a big francophile) wanted to take me somewhere with a bit of authenticity. Her pick was dead on as Casse-Croute, though perhaps loud and little crowded, is a prefect neighborhood bistro with authentic French fare. We started with standard French summer summertime drink and fare, Ricard and water, Salad Nicoise, and well I forget the other starter, but I remember all was good. The entrees consisted of a flank steak for myself coupled with Potatoes Au Gratin. The steak was good, but the Au Gratin were for sure some of the best i have ever had. For sure some heavy cream in there! We also had the Turbot Fish and Asparagus. The place is pretty sweet, maybe a little bit pricey, and the charge for bread is kind of weak. But other then that, you have to love a neighborhood place with a black board of fresh selections. This place can get very loud, and the single bathroom can make for a line at times.

This a restaurant that will always have a solid place in my heart. For me in a now thriving corner of Bermondsey this is a little authentic taste of France. A classic French bistro. I’ve been to France a lot and I can tell you this is the real deal. In terms of atmosphere, service(the owners are lovely people who will not hesitate to help) and of course food. The food. It changes seasonally. In fact each day. I had an amazing pork fillet and charcuterie board with a rillettes spread and a fantastic red wine recommended. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

I came back to this establishment for a night with my friends and of course it helped that he was French :). We ordered some charcuterie and appetisers — Jesu was the name of the French charcuterie. Other apps were scallops, a feillle with mushrooms which all went down well with the St emillion wine we guzzled down from Bordeaux. Mains were rabbit, lamb(mine– was so delicious!) and the cote de boeuf. We finished with a couple small desserts and some strange herby liqueur. Desserts were great ;the liquor not so much! Glad to have had such a great meal here. The main issue really is how tiny this place is. Once your sat down you really can’t move around but that shouldn’t stop you! Call to make reservations a month in advance at minimum for prime Friday or Saturday reservations.

Great food again but the service was really lacking. I booked a table and was told we had it for two hours. More than enough time for a leisurely lunch but we were rushed through the entire meal: apéritif, starter and mains within 55 minutes! Seriously? We would be still working through one thing when the waiter would show up trying to clear the table or bring something else. Highly annoying.

Make a reservation. Really busy place but the waiter managed to get us a table good for only an hour though! Quite loud on a Friday night & because the place is so small. But it’s a hidden gem in Bermondse street that’s worth the journey

Amazing little french restaurant! The place is small but well organized. There’s two french guys waiting and it’s pretty entertaining talking to them — they have good recommendations! For starters we had a little pastry with pork feet(out of this world), then a pork shoulder«a la diable» and wrapped lunch with a macaroon and an apple tart! The quality, service and atmosphere were a solid five!

Totally disgusted by the attitude of this place — before I even got in there. Tried phoning several times to make a booking, got through twice and each time was asked if I could hold for a moment only to be left there for nearly 5 minutes! I could hear the sound of the staff chatting in the background but no one picked up… the first time I hung up… the second time they eventually put the phone down on me. Disgraceful treatment. Obviously I won’t be bothering again…

Lovely restaurant. Nice old school french bistrot feel. Friendly and helpful staff and the food is very good. I do agree with some of the previous reviews that the portions are small considering the price tag. In an ideal world each dish woukd be twice the size, but this is more or a special occasion place especially since there’s very little scope for walk-in; reservations are a must if you plan to go at a conventional time. Accordingly the expensive small portions can be forgiven whilst you just enjoy the ambience… though you may need a snack afterwards.

Come here. That’s about that. A little, intimate real French restaurant with great wine and superb traditional French food. It’s like being in a market square in a French village. Blinding.

My friends and I had heard this place was awesome and we managed to go for lunch the last day that we were in London. It’s a Michelin rated restaurant, but very small and quaint. I’ve got to say that I was expecting a lot. I ended up having the pigeon as that was what the waitress recommended, and it was tasty and had an amazing sauce on it. That being said, I think Casse Croute is like any fancier restaurant where it’s overpriced and smaller portions so I left still being hungry. I definitely would like to go back here for dinner to try out some of their other dishes.

I expected a lot from this small French bistrot on hip Bermondsey Street. Cute décor and ambiance. The food is good, but overpriced(£17 for a steak tartare served without fries…). In France, bread is an important part of every meal and no restaurant would ever charge you for it. Casse Croute charges £2 for a couple of bread slices — worse yet, this is not mentioned anywhere. I’ve asked this charge to be removed as we had not been made aware of it, which the waiter did(but reluctantly, and without any form of apology). Lastly, service is very… French. If you’ve been to Paris, you’ll know what I mean.

Service was great. Our waitress was lovely. I had baked cheese to start(amazing), pig cheeks for main(good), shoe pastry with peanut cream(pretty sweet) and a blue & soft cheese(amazing). I’ve had a few to drink so the detail is lacking but trust me this place needs to be visited.

For being part of a mini-chain along Bermondsey Street, that serves some of the best Spanish food in the entire city, I’m at a loss at why this place is just so… boring. Yes, it’s a cute and rather authentic little bistro, but the food is mediocre at best and the service is slow. The exact opposite of Jose and Pizarro. For my money, I’d cross the street and have tapas and Andalucian beer instead.

Just cute little bistro with a daily changing menu. Very fresh interesting food in a charming setting with very pleasant staff. House wine is really good and each time I have been the food was delicious. Great addition to the street. Book early!
