Like the above reviewer said it is «Weavetabulous» their is one side of the shop dedicated to artificial hair. The day I see a hair shop that is «Naturaltabulous» call me! Tupac said you will never see a black president and it came to pass… so you never know. For my kinky coily teeny weeny Afro I needed some tools to keep my fro naturaltabulous. So Catwalk provided me with plastic caps, gel, spray bottles, applicator bottles and a mixing bowl all under a tenner. The staff member knew I needed a basket and kindly handed me one. I don’t live in a predominantly black area so it is a welcome relief to get all my supplies.

Weavetabulous ! Maybe it’s the prospect of changing my appearance with a flash of a new hair colour or best transformation of all a wig, which inject mystery into my visits to the hair shop. My latest weave palace is Catwalk in Brixton. This hidden gem nestled beneath a railway arch has everything a hair addict could ask for, except for decent customer service. I knew exactly what I was looking for, as I dived in a sea of hair. Human hair, artifical hair, hair in just about every colour of the rainbow. Wavy hair, straight hair, crimped hair and demi waved hair. Hair, hair and more hair everywhere! I was in heaven. I would have stayed there too, if my moment wasn’t ruined by a very rude shop assistant. The hair I wanted was on a hanging shelf. Not a problem if the hanging shelf was actually within reach. I’m hardly a munchkin, but seriously that shelf was way too high! Nothing comes between this diva and a bargain, so I walked towards an assistant and asked him to get the hair down for me. I was met with a petulant reluctance, which I last remembered seeing in my friend’s little boy; pressing his lips together firmly, as she tried to coax him to eat some vegetables. My non-helper, stomped over to where the hair was, and despite being at least 6 foot, even he had to stand on the step ladder to reach the hair. He was about to disappear, but I made him go back up the ladder to get me some more hair and then I thanked him. His response was to shrug his shoulders and stomp off. Catwalk isn’t just about the hair! They sell other stuff — skincare, body lotions, hair oils… lots of things and before I forget cosmetics. Just a little tip though, don’t buy your cosmetics(Iman and Sleek) here. The mark-up maybe great for Catwalk, but its pants for you ! Fortunately for Catwalk I am willing to overlook selective overpricing and dodgy customer service. Why? Economics people! Just between us and let’s keep it on the downlow(in case Catwalk raises them !), the price of the hair weave I’m devoted to(no I’m not telling you which!), is very reasonable indeed. Sometimes a diva’s gotta compromise and take the rough with the smooth, to land a bargain !
