What a cool shop! I stopped in during my visit to London from the States. There is nothing quite like this place in my small sleepy town and I doubt there are many places in the States where a shop like this could thrive, let alone survive. The shop is filled from front to back, side to side, primarily with chess sets and chess books. I was amazed to see so many different chess sets, boards, pieces, books, videos, etc. Other board games are present but it’s almost in the background noise. The staff are extremely friendly and engaging. There were some chess fans hanging out in the shop analyzing past games and getting into a serious discussion about it. It was a sight to see! Coming from the States I have to say that the stuff here is not cheap. You can get way better deals online but there’s always something you can buy as a souvenir of visiting this place. I ended up splurging a bit since I didn’t know when I would have a chance to ever come back. Every chess fan should visit this shop even if they don’t want to buy anything.

I happened to wander by this shop today in my exploration of new areas(for me) of London. As a board game fanatic, I decided to check it out and see what was inside. It really is mostly full of classic game supplies. A plethora of chess boards and chess books were filling up the store. I also saw lots of backgammon supplies. Very nice. There were also a few shelves full of newer games. They had a huge selection of The Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride games. If you’re looking for a place with nice board games that’s a little less intimidating than the geekiness of Orc’s Nest, I recommend coming here.

Everything Chess and Bridge, that just about sums it up! I bought a really cool chess set for my brother here. It was 269.00 and was sort of fake crystal looking pieces with a glass board. They have so much to choose from, if you are a chess or bridge fan you must come here and check it out. You can also get books here on chess tactics, magazines, information about chess and bridge clubs etc. This store is very specialised. If you want to see chess sets costing as much as 5,000 pounds take a look in this store, worth the visit just to see.
