This place fit the bill for us on our first day in town. Tasty food, a bit of spice and a relaxed setting while dealing with jet lag. One thing that is hard to find in the states is Lebanese wine so getting a chance to try some was also a treat. One thing I highly recommend was the Kafta Khosh-Khash, it is the only«spicy» thing on the menu. The kabobs were perfectly flavored and served with a red sauce, which is where the spice came from. A great little tingle and not over powering and just what you need when jet lagged. The grape leaves were nicely balanced in flavors and very good. We also had some of the lamb sausage, Makanek. These had a great lamby taste and just a hing of sweetness from the sauce they were served in. also, give the coteaux du libana red wine a try. A very lovely red blend, that just needs a few moments to open. Service was very nice and professional. I know other older reviews have commented on the service and how long it takes for things to come out, but for us, things were perfectly paced and seems like changes have been made.

hope you’re not in a rush cos the service is ‘in reverse’, but the food is worth the wait, fantastic stuff and the price is unbeatable, best kept secret in the area by a mile.

I agree with the first comment. 5 stars for the food(specially at this price) but the amateurish service does not help this fantastic place. But that is also part of it’s charm: an unpretentious place. For Lebanese food lovers this is a must go.

This is truly is the best place in London to get classic Lebanese cuisine! Chez Marcelle, is a one woman show run by … drum roll… Marcelle ! She is quite the character and can be very entertaining if she is not busy! but boy can this lady cook ! She makes some of the best Raheb(smoked eggplant salad) and Falafel I have ever had and I have had a lot! I know you must be thinking, you can get good versions of these dishes all over but trust me this lady makes them fresh on the premises herself. The restaurant itself is small clean and simple but is worth the great food ! My advice ask her what to order she will be able to guide you to what is the best thing on the menu.

Chez Marcelle is an odd sort of place. If I were going on food alone, it’d be five stars without question. Every dish has a lovely home-cooked feel, as the ingredients are simple but fresh and the presentation is basically a case of sticking it in a bowl and plonking it down on the table, but there’s something deeply satisfying about a huge dish of spiced rice and chicken, or a finely-chopped salad of avocado, mint, and cherry tomatoes, that makes the slightly rustic presentation seem very appropriate. They also do excellent home-made juices. Unfortunately, they are let down two whole stars by the service. I do not want to wait an hour for my main course while dish after dish is carried under my nose to the table of eight next to me, who ordered after I did. The taking of orders was confused and sloppy and occasionally rather brusque, and they don’t take credit cards so I had to run down to Olympia to fetch some cash so that we could pay. Fortunately we weren’t in a hurry, but nevertheless the dreadful service ensured that we never went back. If you have lots of time to spare then I can’t help but recommend it for the wonderful food, but do expect to be kept hanging around.
