As an American from the west coast, I’ve eaten loads of Mexican food, which is normally very good, and the restaurants typically have amazing service. This place falls short in every respect. It may actually be the worst restaurant I’ve ever visited in London. The nachos lacked any kind of layering strategy, and as far as the lunch menu goes, there wasn’t actually any Mexican food on it. That said, I feel like I should mention some good things about this place. Here are a few: 1: The restaurant did not smell like piss. 2: My wife liked her cocktail. 3: … OK so that was really all. Don’t go here.

I came here for breakfast and found the food to be ok, it wasn’t amazing. Service could have been better as wasn’t too busy. There was a lot of waiters, waitresses around as we always had a different person attending to us but still the service was too slow. wouldn’t go back even though it is the nearest mexican restaurant to me. Would rather venture further out to a better one.

I’m not sure if this goes for all Chiquito or just this one, but the food is terrible. It is a Mexican restaurant and they cannot even make Salsa and Guacamole on their own. Salsa tastes like mix of Ketchup and relish as it comes out of a bottle. What a shame. Staff here certainly don’t look like they are proud of what they have to serve.

Dear, oh dear, Chiquito Staples Corner, what a sad place. I’ve been 3 times so far for weekday lunch, and each time its been totally empty — a very bad sign — and very disappointing. The décor and ambiance is all dark woods and depressing, with battered tables. The Mexican decoration is mainly tiny black and white photos and plain plates. The background Mexican music was OK, but feeble. The lighting looks old and dirty. In a large, completely empty restaurant, the pleasant waitress still tried to seat me at the worst tight, corner table because I was by myself. When I asked for a better table, she tried to seat me elsewhere, but on a torn cushion seat. Then as she was clearing the table of all the surplus silverware, the knife went flying in the air, hilariously. She tried to be friendly after all that, bless her. The menu and the photos look good, but the food here is English-Mexican(her words) which would be yukky for any body who knows what real Mexican food should be like. The meagre complimentary tortilla chips were freezing cold and stale, the salsa the cheapest out of a can. The £5.99 spicy chicken soft tacos’s(2) were awful, with cold hard kidney beans and unappetising filler to munch on. I can think of much better lunch deals for £6. Recommendation to the owners: They really need to bring in an expert Mexican restaurant consultant from head office to spruce up the place and give some flavour to the food. I don’t know how they can survive without drastic help.

I loved this place. The beer and cocktails were fab, the food(a mighty chicken burger) was excellent. Fast service and good vibe. Negative reviews on here, but I loved it!

If you want genuine Mexican food, do not go here. You WILL be disappointed. I think this place only attracts people who have no idea what real Mexican food is and enjoy the watered down version of it. One main factor that makes me give Chiquito a 1 star is the fact that the food is ridiculously expensive for the quality and quantity you get. And to top it off — the service is just awful — so slow! No acknowledgment of customers waiting to be seated or for their orders to be taken — and not too friendly either. The atmosphere in this place is cool though and it’s nice perhaps for a cocktail after work. Note of advice: the music playing outside creates an illusion for people to think that there’s a sunny, spicy Mexican food fiesta going on inside. Do not be duped.

If there were more Mexican people living in London, I’m sure they would organize a rally and burn these places to the ground. What an insult! Even if you’ve never had authentic Mexican cuisine, this stuff is still shyt. And the drinks are worse than the food. I ordered some blue nonsense with vodka and pineapple and juice and it was brought to me warm! I know ice is not customary in London, but you can’t serve liquor at room temperature folks. Seriously, this place is an embarrassment.

I have been here on a number of occasions as it is the only restaurant on the retail park. I come to the park to visit the electrical stores and computer store on the corner or the cineworld. The restaurant is almost empty if you go during the week on an afternoon or evening. It gets very busy however on Saturday’s. They have a full bar and some really good margaritas which are served in a traditional glass with or without salt. The food is average although I must say the bacon, avocado, chicken salad 8.75 which comes in a tortilla shell is really good and filling. They will keep you topped up with salsa and tortillas which is good if you are hungry but mostly want a drink. I can fill up on tortillas and salsa really quickly. Or better still get the cheesy chilli dip 4.00(melted cheese with bits of chilli in) which is really tasty. The décor is very Mexican and it is a big place with lots of booth type seating which is great. The menu is I think over priced ie their fajitas are expensive at almost 15.00 quid and not worth the money. I really like this place but it is way over priced hence the 3 stars.
