I have nothing but good to say about this place. If you like fried chicken, then this is definitely a place to try. Their buttermilk chicken is delicious and I’m not even really a fan of fried chicken. It’s not too greasy and the chicken is super tender and moist. They have some good burger choices and their fries are tasty and crisp. :D they have some good veggie options as well; the vegetarian burrito is enormous and really tasty. :) There’s a good selection of beers and they come in the cutest frosty half pint dimple mugs. The staff are SUPER friendly as well, always seem to recognise us and always seem welcoming and keen. They do delivery and I think there’s a 10% discount if you collect. And if you sign up to their website you get a free burger. A free tasty burger. What more could you want. I’m actually concerned it’s within a 5 minute walk from my house cos I think I’m gonna eat me a lot of chicken.

A recent trip to America gave me a love for soul food, and fried chicken foremost. I’ve been twice recently due to a) having meetings in Ealing, and b) hearing of this place. It’s no frills, and no surprises. The drinks list is good enough, and the atmosphere nice and relaxed, although haven’t been with it being exceptionally busy. Ultimately, the fried chicken is the showpiece, and it’s excellent. Tender, crispy coating, and flavoursome in its own right. The sides — pulled pork, coleslaw, dirty rice — is all good. The burgers are particularly good. What I expected, and what I wanted, and it is no bad thing, nor easy, for a fast food place to deliver that. A great family option and a welcome addition to the area.

Excellent place for good American style chicken. They have Sierra Nevada too. Haven’t been on a busy day, so it may all be too good. Happy thus far, though. Today: burrito. Omg. So awesome.

Historically, Ealing in West London has been the home of ‘safe’ chain restaurants and not a destination for foodies. However, things are changing with the recent opening of Chooks which would not be out of place in more hip areas such as Shoreditch. Chooks opened in Autumn of 2015 in Ealing, previously having a successful pioneering branch in Muswell Hill. We were surrounded by cosy booths, Chooks branded arcade machines, shabby chic lighting, and polaroid camera toilet roll holders — tres cool! The majority of the menu is based on chicken — mainly grilled but we opted for the buttermilk deep fried kind(with deep fried sweet potato fries and deep fried popcorn shrimp — OKOK the diet starts next week, honestly). The food is above average; tasty but missing that WOW knee knocking sensation(we’ve had better chicken at Bird@Old Street and ChicksnSour@Haggerston), however, we do prefer the ambience of Chooks and the spacious feel which is great for buggies. High chairs and baby changing is available and the staff were super obliging to our little one. Definitely one to try if you find yourself in the area.

I’ve have fried chicken in Deep South and this one is on par with those. Try the curious brew lager with the Blazing Saddle and you’ll be in heaven.
