An East End market, Chrisp Street is a bit down-at-heel but with enough shops and stalls to make it a worthwhile shopping destination. The main market was built in Festival of Britain modernist street form, and this has been added to in recent years with a glass-roofed centrepiece. You can buy fresh fruit n veg, fabrics, pots and pans and general household goods in the main market. And there’s a lot of cheap shops in the buildings surrounding Chrisp Street. So here, you’ll find discount furniture shops, good butchers, bakers and pound shops. Truth be told, it does look and feel a bit shabby. Especially surrounded by the glittering towers of East End regeneration. But well worth checking out, whether you’re an architecture geek or just looking for some bargains…
