If you’re a member of the jet-​set South Kensington crowd or just a local Londoner looking for a piece of elegance and history, visit Christies auction house in South Kensington.
I came here as a curious spectator and was amazed to see items that cost less than my monthly rent up for sale. If I were furnishing a flat in the city I would buy items such as drawers or mirrors from here just to jazz up the items I already have. At Christies, there’s a large selection of jewelry that’s fun to browse or buy if you feel inclined to do so– you can bid in house. There’s not many nosy employees peering over your shoulder like you’ll usually find in other home stores, so why not have a look?

Christie’s is as good as it gets when it comes to auction houses. With its commitment to excellence in catering to the customer and providing the most exquisite art. Stop by the South Kensington location and view an auction or bid if you have the cash. It is not as intimidating as it seems. Some of the people in attendance are in T-​shirts and jeans bidding thousands on jewellery. Others are «ladies who lunch» in attendance with their Marc Jacobs bag, and furry friends who fit inside. Personally, I say ‘It’s Christie’s, if you are going to bid thousands for a painting, dress for the occasion.” Last year the sales for auctions totalled £3.1 BILLION, which sets the record for art auctions. Even with a recession looming the auction was full and Christie’s is going strong.
