I love this place. I can’t understand why it hasn’t been reviewed yet! I moved to Greenwich in August and have tried most of the Indian restaurants in the vicinity. Some have been meh, some awful, some mediocre. This is the only decent place I have found! And it’s a sit in restaurant too. Huge plus as most of the Indian restaurants around this area are takeaway only. I really don’t see the point in getting an Indian, only to sit in and eat it at home! The waiters are super helpful too, always recommending dishes he thinks my boyfriend and I will like. Cheap too, usually comes to about £25 for mains, side and drinks for two of us. Craving it just thinking about it, mmm.

I was so unimpressed with this takeaway(and now kicking myself for not reading Qype reviews before I order). There was nothing good about my meal. It was just all very generic. I’m pretty sure my curry would have been the same no matter what I ordered. I’ve never had a madras that was so mild. And tasted of nothing actually. Starters were OK, but all very ‘meh’. There was nothing to shout about and nothing memorable about my meal. It wasn’t horrible, it was just rubbish. Utterly rubbish. Aside from the fact that it wasn’t cheap and I spent just over a tenner. The best bit of a meal should not be the free poppadums.

Now the thing is I love good food. I also know that good doesn’t necessarily equate with expensive. Take Cinnamon off Lewisham way for example a mid-range priced curry that is almost unbeatable in style and quality. It is with this in mind that I am more so angered when somewhere so dramatically fails to provide the goods. Chutney Tandoori has unfortunately made that trespass and here I shall reign down my displeasure at what I must note as one of the most unpleasant curries I’ve had in quite some time. Frankly under normal circumstances I’d scatter bomb this review with a battery of jokey remarks and insults but I’m so unhappy with the food from this place that I don’t think it would even be appropriate. I must say, before continuing, I only ordered as a takeaway so I cannot comment on the experience given in the restaurant, but I am not going to be visiting any time soon and must categorically state that I am not a fan — at all. We ordered the chicken tikka jalfrezi which was in a watery, oily sauce with very little distinctive flavour or any of the heat you woud expect from a jalfrezi. A bland affair, tasteless chicken with not even half the amount of vegetable you’d expect from a dish that was originally based on a vegetarian meal. The second main we ordered was the chicken passanda which was almost 90% sauce and very little else. Again the sauce had nothing to distinguish it’s individual flavours. The was no flair or love in the meal whatsoever. A large yellowy expanse with very little flavour at all. Of course a passanda(similar to a Korma) should not be a chilli bomb of a meal but being totally devoid of flavour short of a very bland, slushy mix of nut and cream The mushroom rice was reasonable but a side dish does not a meal make. Delivery took quite a while but my main concern was the poor, watery, ill judged taste of the dishes. I am very dissapointed with the quality of food produced by this establishment and can ony recommend against unless a substantial improvement, care and love of the food can be attained. Hopefully the stabbing pain in my guts will shortly receed and reduce the ire I’m currently experiencing in light of this dire experience.
