City Cuts & Colours

Ok, so I’m a super impulsive person and this morning I decided I had to have a have a bob. I called up while in the office and got an appointment no problem at lunchtime. I arrived and was in and out of salon in under 25 mins. Totally ideal for a working girl, with not much spare time.
I went for a dry cut, which was just under £20, which is a total bargain for the area. The lady did a good job cutting me a bob, it was a total transformation and in a very short space of time.
It’s a no frills service, but if you want something quick and fairly cheap, go here.

Was able to walk in, reasonable priced, she gave me exactly what I wanted — cleaned up the fringe and even out the layers. Was in and out!

I have fine hair which was long and had it highlighted. I wanted to have low lights and a bit of a tidy up, not a make over. I rang and spoke to get advice and was reassured that lowlights would not damage the condition and that it would be best to have the whole head done. The woman I spoke to sounded friendly and knowledgeable so I made an appointment the next day. Saturday 14^th June.
It was a complete disaster, the worst hair experience of my life.
I was very clear that I wanted lowlights and tidy up to make my hair look fuller.
The stupid woman put highlights in my hair. She did not listen. It turned white and badly damaged. She insisted in putting in layers which made my hair look thinner, not fuller.
The good thing I can say is that another hairdresser did her best to patch things up and was lovely — Natalie, If you come here I would recommend her, but they have to do something to assure members of the public that the people they hire have the ability to think what suits someone, is able to listen and not just do what they want regardless.
My appointment was at 2pm, I did not leave until 6.45.
Actually I cried it was so bad.
I still hate it and went to went to another hairdresser to patch things up. She told me that layering fine hair does not make it look fuller and this should be avoided.
I still feel like crying when I see myself in the mirror and have to wait until it grows back. Its heartbreaking. I paid someone to wreck my hair, make me look older and not that attractive.

I hate paying a ridiculous amount of money to get my hair cut. I don’t need anything fancy… just a trim and I don’t want to pay over the odds for it.
This is why City Cuts was perfect. Very reasonable prices, great hair cut and a super friendly stylist!
After neglecting my hair for some time, I finally went to get the split ends chopped off. Terry was really chatty and knew how to work the scissors. With curly hair I am usually very weary of leaving the salon with a lion’s mane. But my hair now looks lovely and healthy and very stylish!
Will definitely be back!

I really wanted to come here after getting my hair cut at Baker Street but since I no longer work in the vicinity I decided to try the Victoria branch as it’s not too far from work and they stay open late during the week. I hate getting my hair done on the weekend! What a waste of my free time.
I got a half head of highlights and a toner which came to 65ish, excluding a blowdry which I never get when I get my highlights done.
I thought that was such a good price considering they did such a good job. That was like 3 weeks ago and the highlights haven’t faded or turned brassy which I usually struggle with. I’m just so over pretentious Shoreditch salons.

This has been my hairdresser of choice for the six years I’ve worked in Victoria. The staff are friendly, professional and quick, appointments are not usually necessary, they’re open seven days a week and their prices are reasonable. Most certainly recommended.

After a disastrous highlighting experience at another salon, I was initially a bit nervous about trying another low cost salon but my hair needed fixing fast and I couldn’t afford anywhere swish.
I left City Cuts as happy as I’ve ever been with a London hairdresser.
The salon isn’t very glamorous, it looks more like a men’s barber shop but the staff were all friendly and welcoming, even if that welcome came from a hairdresser halfway through another client’s hair. I guess not paying for a receptionist or spending heaps on décor is part of why they can keep prices so affordable.
My hair was a mess; I’d been medium/​light brown wanting to go blonde and had visited another salon about 6 weeks ago and they’d done a rubbish job; half head of foils without any consultation on colour, no toner used and my hair was looking decidedly brassy/​gingerish.
At City Cuts, my hairdresser Terry just got it from the start. He understood why I was unhappy, what I wanted and talked to me about what I could achieve now and what I should get done in future.
He showed me a colour chart of the highlight he planned to put through, and said that he would alternate two highlights to one lowlight to tone in with the darker colours and stop my re-​growth being too hash. This is what my old hairdresser in NZ used to do, so I instantly felt reassured that it would turn out ok.
I explained that I liked my foils as fine as possible, to avoid the stripey look and again Terry understood straight away. A lot of hairdressers say they will give you super-​fine highlights then go ahead and do them medium-​thick anyway; I guess possibly as the fine ones are a lot more time consuming, but the ones Terry did were some of the finest, least stripey I’ve ever had.
When it was all finished, I was thrilled. It looked exacted like I’d wanted and had been unable to get last time.
For a full head of foils on long hair, with a cut, it cost me £90, which is less than what a half head would have cost most places.
I’ll definitely be back!

Aurane is a perfectionist and I am consistently happy with the colour and cut she gives me. I have tried many hairdressers over the years and Aurane is the best by far. She always does my hair exactly how I want it. If you only want a little off or a total restyle she does exactly that. She is also very friendly and I have recommended her to all my friends who now come to her! And the price is great for a hairdressers in London.

Sara is Brilliant! I love coming to Sara for my cut and colour and I always walk out feeling fabulous. This place is also amazing value I’ve paid twice as much for cut and colour and it wasn’t anywhere near as good. And I follow Sara wherever she goes, it’s because she is amazing at recognising what suits the client best. Sara has always done a wonderful job with great attention to detail, huge care and obvious technical ability.

Went in there last weekend and had an amazing experience. Great cut and what impressed me most was the time it took! Well done and see you soon!
