I have always had an excellent experience at this Clarks store, they have welcoming and great staff and it is well-presented and run. I’m a big Clarks fan — been buying from them all my life, and more recently I have barely bought shoes from anywhere else(!). They are a little more premium than maybe some other shops in the high street, but the quality is usually outstanding. I have pairs of shoes from them — part of their ‘UnStructured’ brand — which have literally lasted years of almost everyday wearing. Anyway, unlike my usual experience with them, I had to return some faulty shoes where the sole had unglued itself. I had been putting it off, as I find these situations quite stressful, thinking I would have to argue my case as I couldn’t find the receipt. But I was extremely pleasantly surprised. The regular staff were very understanding and shared my view that this was unusual quality for them. The manager first proposed that she would replace them — ordering in a new pair at the right size for next week — if I would just bring in a bank statement showing the sale. Hurrah I thought. However, when she went to order in the new pair, she realised that they out of stock for this particular shoe, and so then offered for me to exchange them right there and then for a new style. So — amazingly — I ended up literally walking out the shop with brand new lovely shoes, and they just took the old ones without receipt or receipt. This may have been quite unusual, but I am now even more of a fan and a very loyal customer to the Clapham Junction branch!
