So this was a cosy little spot in Putney and a nice place to shelter from the rain. It has a traditional pub style feel with a good selection of ales, beers and cider on tap. You may need to take advantage of these as on a Sunday afternoon as it is quite difficult to get a table on a whim(I would reserve a table). Once managing to get a table we ordered a glass of Rosé which was refreshing and the barman seemed to have a relatively good knowledge of the wine on offer. However, service other than this was generally sluggish and there was a certain lack of attention to detail. For instance, the bar staff seemed to do a lot of walking around behind the bar instead of ensuring the customers needs were met. In spite of this the food(roast chicken) was genuinely delightful and tasty. It would have been nice to had it on a bigger plate as cutting into a chicken leg did prove interesting with limited space. I also felt the food was slightly pricey(£14.95) considering it wasn’t particularly fancy. Overall, the food was hearty and enjoyable and in a nice well decorated spot for some Sunday grub. However, it would have been nice to pay a little less considering the quality of the food and the service provided.

Nice pub in Putney. If it’s a nice day there’s a great courtyard outside with TVs for watching sport, and inside you’ll find plenty of tables, couches, and comfortable lounge chairs to relax in. If you go back to the dining area you’ll notice the charm and character of the place, and one more thing… the bookshelf/door to the bathrooms that is masked into the wall. The big metal push area gives it away as a door, but that’s probably a good thing if you’re looking for the toilet and are in a rush. You’ll find a few cask ales on tap and the usual lagers, so if you’re in Putney and looking for a quick pint or a relaxing afternoon I’d definitely recommend Coat & Badge.

Convivial(although too brightly lit for a date) atmosphere, crowded and busy yet decent bartenders still rapidly take your order from one-deep at the bar, kudos. Another one of the Geronimo Inns stable of semi-good gastropubs. I had the burger(when can i ever refuse the burger on a menu) but was a let down in general. What was lauded as a brioche bun was plainly seasame… Meat cooked fairly adeptly yet lacking in flavour. Ridiculously limp hydroponic-style lettuce, what were they thinking? I will certainly go back for the excellent wine menu and atmosphere, just not for the burger… other food looked decent, mind.

I’ve always enjoyed myself in the Coat and Badge, the food’s great and they often do outdoors BBQ’s in the Summer months. Really nice bar staff and they do a great pint. The musics always at a decent volume and the outdoors screen’s handy if the football’s on. If not, there are screens inside as well for the winter months. Along with the Jolly Gardner, I always pay the Coat a visit when in the area.

One of the better pubs in Putney and the outdoors space is a great place to hang out over a few pints. Food is absolutely average but what it does have that so many pubs seem to fail on is something akin to a heart or soul and that in the faceless identikitpub world is to be praised!

The Coat and Badge offered a decent selection of food and drink. The Pimm’s Cup was okay, not the best I’ve had, but wasn’t bad. The other people I was with ordered the chicken and bacon salad with a light cream-based dressing off the specials board, and they seemed to enjoy it quite a bit. i ordered the Eggs Benedict, which was a no-frills, no sides eggs benny, but tasty for only 4.50! Not too bad, London. Not too bad. The berry cheesecake was good to boot. The outside patio area is awesome – there’s a TV and on some nights they offer live music too!

Came here during a Wimbledon match and everyone was more or less entranced. Still, we had some food and drinks and watched a match and had a good time. The food was okay, but a little expensive for pub food(as mentioned in another review). Things got rather busy by 6:30 when we left, and there were several dozen people standing with nowhere to sit. That might have been the result of Wimbledon going on at the same time, or the summer weather making standing outdoors more favorable than sitting indoors, but that was our experience that one time. A good pub with a large patio and decent food at tolerable prices is pretty much the quintessential 4-star rating.

There have been a number to times I have tried to go to this pub… and I’m sorry to say I’m old in that my friends and I have had to leave as the music is just too loud! The Décor is okay, quite modern and stylish, but not to my taste as I do not like gastro-pubs and whilst this isn’t one — it looks like it’s trying to be. The one time we successfully had a drink here, this was or average quality and there we left quite quickly as there was nothing really to keep us here when there are better pubs in the area.

I quite like it here, excellent outdoor area and you can watch sport on the outside tv. Inside is pretty good too. Food looked nice but I didn’t have any

I liked my gammon with egg & chips here on Sunday the 12th and the Guinness was well poured. The taps seemed to only have a couple of real ales but there were quite a few lagers & Strongbow. The interior’s pleasing on the eye and the pub quiz(which incidently the team I joined won) made for a fairly good tempered but raucous bit of late weekend entertainment.

This is a popular pub that has a great atmosphere for sporting occasions such as the rugby six nations or the boat race. The beer is good, so is the food. In my personal opinion, this is one of the better pubs in the Putney area.

Had quite a few nice nights here, including New Year! The outside area is nice and private, with a good amount of seating; inside can get quite tight and hot when it gets busy though. There is a good vibe in here and a decent crowd of people. You can also reserve a seating area if you want to guarantee a space for the evening.

Quite a nice pub indeed, very good atmosphere. They even have a fire place as well, what more do you want in a cold weather, so if you get there early i believe you can get to sit by the fire. I like their wine selection, it’s appealing i say. I can’t seem to forget the first time i went there with my friend, there was a black cat roaming around in the pub and this other dude was looking for it. He found it at last.

Ok for drinks with a nice patio that has a fair number of tables as well as a spacious indoors but the food was not at all good. Ale and steak pie that had tough, badly flavoured meat and a cauliflower and leek pie tha didn’t have any leeks!

Both the inside of the pub and outside patio are pleasing to the eye. They feel clean and well taken care of. But as I do with most pubs, I prefer the patio. During warms days you can sun yourselves and in the chillier evenings there are loads of heat lamps to keep you nice and toasty. The patio itself is one of the largest I’ve seen in London, but it always seems to be packed. It’s also tough to get a table inside when the weather isn’t perfect so you need to book ahead or arrive really early. I would have given this pub 4 stars except for two things. 1) Prices tend to be a bit high for a pub. 2) There can be some unfortunate clientele – and by unfortunate I mean, a bunch of airheads and jocks.

This pub has a great beer garden and has managed to cater for both winter and summer by having a cosy indoor area as well. Great for sport events as they bring a tv and bbq outside to cater for the numbers. The food is a little more expensive but its not your average pub grub. This pub is good for a quiet drink in a relaxed atmosphere.
