There are a thousand better curry places in London. This one was very below average — food didn’t strike me as that fresh. And unfortunately the next day I’m left with a very dodgy stomach. A close inspection on the Kitchen workers hanging around smoking by the side of the building will probably give me the explanation on why I now have a dodgy stomach. One to avoid especially when there is so much choice elsewhere.

One of my first meals in London in the trendy fitzrovia area. The meals we had were mixed with a couple meat dishes and a cheese dish and garlic naan. To be honest, the only thing I would eat there again was the cheese dish we got that had spinach and a couple other things in it. Otherwise I would say the food was not the greatest and it was a little pricey for the quality of food.

We were looking for a good restaurant to end our trip in London, and it was the worst of our stay here. We arrived at 8:30 pm, the dining room was almost empty, and they were 3 waiters waitin here. We chose the 11.50£ 3 courses menu, which was pretty good looking on the menu. My girlfriend ask for the less spicy meal, cause she can’t stand spices. So we ordered chicken stuffed with onions and lamb chich kebab for the starters, but we couldn’t find any onions in the chicken, which was dry !!! The lamb was so-so, with too much coriander. Then the main courses arrived, shrimps with a sweet and sour sauce and chicken with coconut milk. The supposed sweet and sour shrimps that my girlfriend ordered cause it was the less spicy dish, according to the waiter, was really inedible. It was so spicy I couldn’t eat it all. The chicken was fortunately sweet and pretty good, and I could extinguish the holy fire in my mouth(we had to change our dishes). Then came the dessert, a kind of Indian pastry. Mine was allright, but her look moldy We asked the waiter if it was normal, he said that it was only sugar. I answered him that it really look moldy, but he still said no no, it’s normal, it’s creamy, sugar. Pissed off, we asked for the bill. The water bottle which came instead of the tap water we ordered was 3,90£, and they took their regular 12,5% of service. I’ve been eating in bad restaurants several times, but this bad, never. I’m actually at the hotel and my belly is deeply hurting me. We are going to leave london with a bad taste in the mouth, thanks to the Curry Leaf !!! We’d better go to the nearest Burger King !!!

Went there for a curry after a night of drinking in April. Turned up had a table for 3 in minutes. Staff very polite and welcoming we had a a decent meal and some wine. Reasonably priced would go there again.

I’ve been to Curry Leaf twice now for lunch. They have a lunch special, from which you choose one starter and one main course and this is served with rice, nan and a bit of salad for £5.95. I went for the onion bhaji and chicken tikka massala both times and thoroughly enjoyed it. The onion bhajis are very nice, and it’s a great meal for the price. However, I think the food does reflect the price. Lunch is fine, but I’m not sure if I would take someone there for dinner, though perhaps this is unfair. I’ve only seen the lunch menu, I would imagine there is a lot more varaition on the full menu.

Went here based on good review for the other on Qype. Very disappointed, terrible slow service(for which a fee of 7.50 was compulsorily added). Food was at best average for a curry, portions were well sized tho. Would’nt go again, staff bordered on rude and considering the wait and that you can get an Icco pizza for quarter of the price round the corner…

I went for a curry with my Dad last night and it was good, though not excellent. Now my family are a little curry obsessed — so I’m probably a little over critical, but it just didn’t really do it for me. The mango chutney that came with the poppadoms was too sweet and too runny. I had a lamb dish which was spicy and lemony(can’t remember what it was called), it was nice and something a little different from the normal offerings, but the sag bhagi was just weird(tasted a bit like air freshener for some reason) The service was really good though — the waiter was really funny and friendly. The tables were way too close together though, we had to rescue drinks from people trying to squidge into the next table. All in all it was fine, I’d eat there again but would probably give somewhere else a go first.

Klassischer Inder mit 80 Plätzen auf drei Stockwerken(20 davon direkt vor den Toiletten im Keller). Klassische Indische Karte, ebenso klassisch zubereitet. Uninteressierte Bedienung.

I couldn’t actually decide whether to give this place 2 stars or 3, so take it as some where in between. My PhD supervisor insists on our group lunching together on the occasions he happens to be at work for a full day and we only get a choice between Indian and Thai. This week I vetoed Thai as our last 3 trips to Charlotte St have resulted in us eating at Thai Metro or Ban Thai. So CurryLeaf it was. Don’t ask me about the atmosphere or ambiance, my mind was stuck with all the work I had to do after Lunch; I just wanted to eat and go. On the plus side, service is quick and the waiters are attentive. Another plus is that there is the Lunch Menu at £5.95. For this you get starters and a main dish served on one platter along with a small mound of rice, a small naan bread and«salad»(shreds of lettuce and carrot). I decided to go veg and had the vegetable samosay(okay) and a mint sabzi curry. The latter was was really over powering and I got through half of it with difficulty. The naan bread was slightly sweet and didn’t taste freshly made. The rice was dry. If people think this is what good south Asian food tastes like, all I can say is get your Indian/Pakistani friend’s mum to cook for you and taste the real deal. For a lunch alternative, try Anwar’s near Warren St. You won’t get the restaurant atmosphere but you will get a nicer and more substantial meal for the same price.

My ode to Curry Leaf — a nearly forgotten venue that remained open just long enough for three ravenous Unilocalers to slip in, order, and devour everything in site in their post elite event stupor: Roses are red Violets are blue Curry Leaf is the perfect spot when it’s 11:30pm, you’re beyond starving, and you’re stuck on Charlotte Street. (ok, so maybe poetry isn’t my strong suit…)

Ah dinner with Unilocalers, this is rapidly becoming one of my top 5 favourite things to do! 2 of the other things being drinking with Unilocalers and running around doing crazy things with Unilocalers. Curryleaf sorta welcomed us in at 11.30pm when all other restaurants in the area turned us away. They weren’t exactly delighted about it, as they clearly wanted to go home. But they sucked it up with good grace. So Laura N. and I let curry expert Farhan R. do the ordering. Several plates of seafood and veg curry promptly arrived with plenty of naaaan! And the food was really good. As Laura said, sometimes curries can all taste similar, but these had a great depth of flavour. The naaaaan was fluffy, light and perfect. Add some mango chutney and I am in foodie heaven. The waiters put me off a little with their constant pacing back and forth, but I imagine if you went in a little earlier, they would be less restless.

I went here when I studied aboard about two years ago. My friends and I wanted good o’ Indian food so we walked around the block and finally decided to eat here. It was raining at the time but we didn’t want to just settle at any restaurant. After walking through the block and looking at almost every restaurant’s menu outside, we finally stepped in to Curryleaf. The service was really attentive. The décor was pretty nice even though we sat at the front of the restaurant. The food, amazing. I am glad we found this place and if I am in London again, I would definitely drop by the restaurant again.

A really great Indian, and in such a popular area of London it really does well for itself. It’s real quality cuisine and the service is excellent. They also do a special deal for a tenner so it’s a bargain too.

With a lot of stiff competition on Charlotte Street, this indian restaurant does well. I ate at Curry Leaf last night with my brother and a friend. We went for the menu deal they have which includes a starter, main, rice and and ice cream for £10. The main menu also has a great selection of courses, many of which I havent even heard of before which is nice for those who like to try new dishes. The service was good and the food was excellent, with beautifully tender and marinated meat. One of the best indian meals ive had in a while. Our only issue was that they charged for an extra round of beers which we didnt have but they were quick to amend the bill and were very apologetic.
