Great dumplings. Great curry. But too much curry. Almost only curry. If you are not in a curry mood maybe this is not the place, but if you are– this is The Place

A cute little Japanese restaurant. Complete with photos for assisted decision making. Wagamama style canteen feel… But a little more café. A bit pricey but the food is better than waggamammas so that’s a good note. The service was a little spikey. I think out server was confused and a bit forgetful but friendly and not rude Really wholesome tasty refreshing food.

A good spot for a quality, low-key meal. The food was quite tasty and pretty good value for money. The ambiance is somewhat spartan but for this type of no frills café I think that’s appropriate. Definitely worth checking out.

Friendly staff, informal, cute interior. Tofu Teriyaki was delicious — soft on the inside, with a caramelised crispy outer. The potato croquette was spiced well, with a nice sticky sweet sauce. Pork Katsu Curry was excellent — lovely, rich curry. I am no expert on Japanese cuisine, and I have not yet been to Japan, but comparing the food here, with other places I have tried, I would recommend. As others mentioned, it may not be as busy as other places in Market Row, or Brixton Village. Really, it seems to be a hidden gem.

I do love that they make their curry sauce from scratch. I’d be curious to know if it is a regional speciality or maybe I was eating at the wrong places in Japan, but I never had anything like what Curry Ono is serving. I wasn’t digging it so much. I went with 3 other people I lived in Japan with for dinner here. They all agreed the sauce is good as an accompanying sauce, but slathered over everything was a bit much. It’s funny that everything besides the namesake was really good. Udon, agedashi-dofu, tofu and kimchi, gyoza… all pretty tasty! But you would go in for a curry, wouldn’t you, over the other mains? Which I’m afraid may turn people off, but the other reviewers seem to love the curry sauce, so go try it for yourself!

I’ve been passing this place for some time now, considering when to go in. It’s always strangely — for the Market — empty-ish. Finally went in last night. God am I glad I did. Fabulous sake menu. Hand-and-home-made curries. Simple folk, fabulous service, fantastic agedashi tofu. Probably better than most of thepopular foodie stuff in the market currently. Get there, seriously.

Had a knock out good Pork Katsu Curry today. Love how they make their own curry and not out of a packet.

A great little Japanese curry restaurant in Brixton market(just off Coldharbour Lane, near Franco Manca). Very treaty curry, including Katsu Pork(my favourite) as well as chicken, beef, vegetable and non-curry options. Sells Asahi and Sapporo beer, as well as wine and sake. Very tasty food and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
