So I had bought a set of adapters with me for the Eurotrip, fully expecting to use them in three separate countries that need an adapter for it’s own. I can’t use the UK one in France, nor the French one in Italy. I merrily thought I was prepared. But then I realized my last minute decision to bring the netbook brought a unique problem. The«universal» set of adapters? They’re only for U.S. two prong. The netbook is a three-prong. D’OH. So the guy helping me load the phone I had with minutes suggested Curry’s Digital for a three prong adapter. I thanked him and promptly rushed to Curry’s to see if they had it before heading to the British Museum. I was in LUCK! Walking in, it reminded me of Best Buy in the States but not as big but equally helpful. I found the adapter, crossed my fingers, and paid for it. It totally worked and the netbook had a connection to life! Or at least life in the UK. Everything in Curry’s looked interesting but with the currency exchange rate, I didn’t even bother to seriously shop for a laptop/digital camera/hdtv. Sadly, it doesn’t fit in my luggage.

As I stepped into Currys Digital I took a quick double-take just to make sure I wasn’t in the Apple Store. The new Currys look great. The outside is bland, but inside is beautifully set in rows and sections of different electrical products. Everything so shiny and new and neatly arrayed left me in a desperate state of credit card envy. Why can’t I have £100,000 limit? For the very reason I would walk into some place like this and buy three 50″ TV, a top of the range DSLR camera, and a whole range of other electrical gimmicks I do not need. Seriously, the shop floor looks impressive. They have masses of choice, plenty of staff manning the floor and for some reason I feel safe and secure buying something from Currys Digital.
