I don’t think I have ever worked out quite so hard in my life! I’m not gonna lie I was a bit apprehensive about going along and wondered if I should maybe wait until I’d regained some of my long-lost fitness but the instructor(whose name escapes me) was really nice and kept checking in to make sure I understood what was happening and that everything was OK. The classes are split into three components: interval training on treadmills, indoor rowing as your active recovery and weights/resistance training. You basically don’t stop moving for the entire duration but it’s designed so that you really can go at your own pace. Your heart rate is constantly monitored and you can see on the screens in the studio just how hard you’re working which is great motivation if you’re a bit competitive like I am!

As I barrel toward my pending move back to the USA, it has become clear how much I will miss this studio and the trainers who work here. I’ve seen great results in my fitness levels, particularly cardiovascular and endurance, all due to OTF. I became an unlimited member immediately after my free taster session earlier this year. I’ve found the best balanced schedule to be two days on, one day off. It’s an easy regimen to stick to and it’ll get you in the studio at least four days per week without any feeling of burnout or muscle fatigue. Any session after three sessions in a row leads to diminishing returns, in my opinion. In regard to my prior statement on the number of trainers per class, I’ve found that one trainer per class is sufficient. It doesn’t take long to acclimate to OTF terminology and the flow of the class and once you have this down, you’ll be good to go.
