You know what I like about this place? It’s not cool. It’s a great place, don’t get me wrong. But it’s not cool. It’s not hip. It’s just a simple little café offering straightforward food at a reasonable price. The first time I went, I ordered a white Americano and it was, quite honestly, a perfect thing. The foam was amazing, it was really hot and they used great coffee. My girlfriend ordered their Early Starter(2 eggs, 2 hash browns and 2 slices of British bacon) which was great. The scrambled eggs were cooked perfectly and it was only £4.20! I ordered the eggs benedict, which wasn’t their strong suit, but it was a good effort for only £6.35. The hollandaise wasn’t the most amazing(a sweetness that seemed misplaced) and it was too plentiful, drowning the muffins and eggs. The muffins were delicious, as was the ham(really flavorful) and the egg yolks were well-cooked(and a gorgeous dark orange color), though my whites were a bit runny. We got some takeaway pastries to try and the croissant, the pain chocolate and this raisin pinwheel thing were all delicious. Flaky and moist and buttery! All that was £21. Insert a tiny jig here. We got a lot of bang for our buck and the service was amazing, as well. Attentive, sweet, and friendly. I’ve been back twice since then for takeaway Americanos(in a generous size) and bagels, both of which are fabulous and the counter staff is really nice and welcoming. It’s becoming my regular routine in the morning. So glad we gave it a try. Viva le uncool!
