EAT.

Busy branch with a high turnover of customers. We came to get out of the rain! Not sure I’d have stopped otherwise.
There’s loud people in suits having meetings using pens and paper! save me from the old school!
I only had a cuppa but they do great soups, worth trying the soups esp the meatball.

As opposed to the other two reviewers here, I quite like the staff at this EAT outlet. But I suppose they could have had some turnover since the last reviews?
My order is always the same; small chai latte and hot ham and cheese croissant. So quick, so friendly. Perfect place to grab breakfast on the way to work when I’ve run out of Coco Pops.

We saw several of these outlets during our two day stay in London. The morning we checked out of the hotel we searched for Eat. Finally we found one. It was early. I asked about the contents of the porridge, and the accented mgr sent a young lad to the back. I ordered for the family. Then the lad brought a pot of porridge, I told the mgr, I asked about it. She told him «he doesn’t want it!» She also got the coffee order wrong, instead of two coffee, she gave us one extra large coffee. She was rude, and even scolded the young lad for something he did before. I remember her face, accent, and name.
Eat is a good spot for «to go» or take away food. There weren’t many choices, and I would have preferred the traditional English breakfast.

EAT is ok for quick bite to eat and I have enjoyed most of their food. What I can’t stand is BAD, IMPOLITE service!
This is what I received today from one of the female servers (with long dark hair tied up in a ponytail). I think she’s from continental Europe some where as she had an accent. The begrudging manner in which she asked whether she could «help me» with one hand on the coffee machine she was cleaning indicating she’d rather being doing that «help me» It was if I was causing her a problem. «I would like to buy a sandwich She sighed, threw down her gloves and was preparing to serve me when I raised my voice and followed up with „if that isn’t too much trouble“ Probably shouldn’t have done that! At which point one of her colleagues stepped in nervously and served me. Then I remembered being in there a month before and she had been exactly the same brusque manner with me but I just let it go. I mentioned this to colleague on the way back into the office and she said» Oh yeah, I know exactly who who you mean“
If I hadn’t had to dash back the office for a client meeting I would have complained to the manager. I should have got her name too. I know … I am probably making a mountain out of mole hill and its not the biggest crime in the world etc but I do expect a modicum of common courtesy when I visit a retail establishment. I worked in food retail when I was a teenager and it can be a hard slog but I would never have addressed a customer in the way I was addressed today no matter how I felt.
The upshot is I won’t being going back to this particular branch of EAT again.
