Not at all fun. Reasonably priced but extremely boring place. Food is plain. Its a wine bar not arestaurant. Service amateur. suckling pig starter was 6⁄10 spring lamb 5⁄10 service 2⁄10 price with 2 glasses of wine £37 incl coffee. Menue extremely sparse. Only two others in the restaurant. i dont like to be negative but this was boring.

Edwin is a man of extensive knowledge, and a man who loves great French food and wine, and who wants to share it with the English palette. Edwin’s wine bar and restaurant provides a wonderfully blank canvas for the uninitiated with a range of amazing wines, and great food. Whilst for the wine connoisseur, a safe spot to enjoy a slow and easy, well priced bottle of the best, alongside a well put together plate of food. Edwin’s comes highly recommended, and although the hipster section of Shoreditch will not appreciate this new venue, those interested in a great selection of wine and decent French food most certainly will.

In summary: friendly service, delicious traditional Lyonaisse food and a lengthy French wine list at reasonable prices. We have been to Edwin’s twice since it opened a few weeks ago. This is the owner’s second restaurant(the other by the same name is in Lyon). His affable demeanor has been a nice complement to the delicious food. On our first visit we had the lyonaisse salad, andouilettes(tripe) and gratin dauphinois. All were well cooked and authentically prepared. The gratin dauphinois was particularly good and we ordered it again on the next visit. Highly recommended for a dinner date. It’s only just opened but we expect that it will soon become a Shoreditch favourite.
