El Vino

Oh this is such a lovely place! Even on a busy Friday night it was calm and had lots of spare tables and chairs.
I love wine, and so do they — you can just tell. The décor is scruffy and comfy, the atmosphere is friendly and if I were American, I might even describe it as ‘charming’.
There is the ‘everyday’ wine list with all the usual stuff, by the glass etc and then there is the ‘green folder’ special wine list which is really interesting to read. It goes region by region explaining about the different vineyards and grapes.
The loos are decent, and although there was a slight odour of frying chips coming from downstairs (?) it was a really nice, reasonably priced and very cosy place to have a glass (ahem or two) of wine.

Nice quiet bar tucked away on the podium level of London Wall. Does tend to attract suits but a good place for a seat and a glass of wine away from busier establishments. Also does a decent breakfast and takeaway wine sales!
