Brixton village is full of treasures, but Elephant is a crown jewel. It’s a humble little spot but it has been decorated with care and you can tell that there is a pride in it. Our server was the nephew of the owner and was remarkably attentive and personable. The food was excellent, and came to us quickly. I love Pakistani food and the lamb keema did not disappoint. The portions were incredibly generous for the prices as well. We went home completely satisfied. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by all the options in Brixton but you won’t be disappointed by Elephant.

When I go to some«Authentic food restaurant» i’m always suspicious. They usually are fake. This one is different. Truly authentic, amazing food + good value for money. And guess what– you can bring your own booze. Nice

An absolute gem in Brixton Market, Elephant dishes up amazing pakistani curries and teas. I tried the chicken curry, daal, mint and chai teas. If you are put off by eating outside during the winter, not to worry. Our kind host provided us with thick, extremely warm blankets to keep us toasty until our food arrived.

Great and friendly spot in the market. The owner was a friend of a friend of mine and quickly after meeting him it became apparent why. Real nice chap that easily is a new friend to all who come by the spot. Good service and the food was damn tasty that left only tongue impressions on the plates as they are good enough to lick clean. Should the seating be all taken, there is a nice latin joint next door, which sells bottles of wine as well as delicious latin food. Stop in and buy a bottle of 4 and enjoy your meal upon their outdoor table and if its still winter chilly, ask to have them turn on the warming lamps above. kudos to good neighbor shops and people!

Superb quality Pakistani street food — miles ahead of the local high street Indian. Everything was made with fresh quality ingredients and tasted like you would probably get at the owner’s mum’s place. A good sign of quality was the fact that the pakoras were not too deep-fried and oil-soaked; the lassis had exactly the right consistency and taste and were not overly sweet; the nan was extremely fresh, and I don’t think I’ve ever had a better dhal in my entire life. The thalis were top. The owner is a really hip dude who was always good humoured and provided excellent service. Don’t hesitate to go — wrap up, though — it’s getting a bit chilly in the market these days.

Bloody fantastic pakistani food, served with little fuss but with plenty of flavour. As with all places in Brixton Village Market these days, there was a bit of a queue but it was very much worth the wait. We had some pakora, which were packed with spice and flavour and the samosas — the pastry was fantastic. The lamb and chicken thalis are well recommended — especially the roti and daal that come with them. BYO booze means the already reasonable prices makes for a very cheap meal out.
