Restaurant was ok but really didn’t like the nightclub downstairs — jam-packed and boisterous and I hated the constant r’n b music. Upstairs bar was ok. Wouldn’t return.

One word to describe the staff and aura of this club: Pompous. Let’s not get all high and mighty on that horse you rode in, because let me remind you that you’re just a doorman/doorwoman with a headset and a clipboard. I could not fathom the amount of disrespect and bad attitude I witnessed from the staff working the front entrance. A woman named… let’s not mention her name, at least I will save an ounce of dignity for her or what’s left of it. She definitely is blinded by her occupation to think for an instance that she is better than the people coming into this club. Just because you are wearing your tall shoes today doesn’t mean you have a right to look down on everyone in line. There was some type of miscommunication down the line and the staff denied our invitation even though we were on the guest list. They were extremely rude and irrational. I was upset because we planned the entire night and came all the way down to attend this club and were turned away just because Ms. Fancy Pants with the headset had a short temper/patience. I am embarrassed for staff’s attitude and hope that one day they will grow up and realize what type of pricks they are.

In true member’s only fashion, the interior is stylish and the service is shit. CORRECTION: The service is shit if you are a woman and happen to come into contact with anyone at the club who works there and also just happens to be of the female persuasion. Case in point — last night I came here for a music showcase. Upon arrival, I was ignored by both women at the door. I literally had to loudly clear my throat before they even acknowledged my existence in the lobby. Once acknowledged, I had to request that my coat be checked. Now when I arrived, there was a group of men in front. They were greeted upon arrival and their coats were quickly taken. But again, I forgot that I have a vagina.(Hey, it happens.) So I had to ask that they take my coat and ignore the bitchy hostess who informed me that it would cost a pound to check my coat. I then made my way to the bar where the blonde ice queen of a bartender ignored me despite the fact that I was the only person at the bar! Frustrated and annoyed, I went downstairs where the friendly and Y-chromosone possessing bartender not only greeted me but got me a drink. Crazy how bartenders can do that! Who knew. The rest of the evening went done ok. There was a weird incident where the toilet attendant tried to give my the paper towel that she just wiped her mouth on. Don’t worry. I reminded her that just because you dry the hands of «the beautiful people» doesn’t make you one of them. Now on to the club itself. It is more of a lounge and restaurant. The are several dining tables and chairs upstairs as well as on the outdoor patio. The downstairs looks more like a club but has couches instead of an actual dance floor. There are also loads of mirrors all over the place to make the venue look bigger than it is. This illusion is shattered the moment you try to use the loo and the door hits against the rubbish bin in the stall. There is however a really cool VIP area that is essentially a sky box that overlooks the downstairs club area. Again there are load of comfy couches in this area along with flat screen tellys. Overall, this is just your run of the mill, over-priced pretentious member’s only club. I’d like to say that there are some redeeming qualities to this place. But I’m afraid there aren’t any.

Maybe I’m being biased but this place was weak. I’m from LA/Orange County and this place felt like it was trying to be Hollywood but just couldn’t make the grade. Yeah I know the dollar is weak but regardless, this place was expensive! I made a few friends while in London and when they told me they paid 20 pounds to get in I almost shit my pants. I’ve been to some of the greatest clubs in the world and I was told this was the best and most exclusive club in London… I gotta admit, I had more fun in Camden Town at little bars than at Embassy. The DJ’s were awful! They didn’t know how to mix music and were not trying to please the crowd. An actor named Russell Brand was there when I went so a good amount of groupies and paps were in the building. Apparently there’s a strict dress code but I guess I knew the right people cause I rolled up in a t shirt and sneakers(to be fair, I wasn’t sure what the night’s plans were so I just dressed casual)… I had went to a few places before and after Embassy but with all the hype about this place I was definitely expecting more. I’m not saying this place sucked, I’m just saying it was weak. It didn’t live up to the reputation it has been given and I was just disappointed. Regardless, I had a good time and it was cool to go for the experience. I was only in London for a month and that was the only time I went. I’ll stick to Vegas and Hollywood. =)

I used to work for Embassy, designing their menus. They always hawked themselves as one of the most prestigious clubs and restaurants in town, and it wasn’t until I went there myself that I changed my mind. I might offend some people here, but if you like China White or Tiger Tiger, if you’re looking to bag yourself a rich footballer or boys if you want a dippy gold-digger, then this is definitely the spot for you. Everyone else, avoid at your peril. The décor is tacky, the drinks are expensive, the music is mainstream. You can’t fault the manager for aiming for a certain crowd, but that crowd doesn’t include me.

Embassy has managed to stand its ground despite many of the nearby clubs closing and reoping under new management. I had a birthday dinner here a few years ago and it was AWFUL. The restaurant looked very impressive and I thought i had made the choice of venue. The waiter got three of my friend’s orders completely wrong and mine arrived when everyone else was finishing their meal! At this point we were too tipsy to care but I do remember that the waiter did not apologise and tried to ignore us when I demanded to see the manager. The manager was apologetic for the service and we were given a glass of champagne and discounted bill. Apart from the terrible service the food was disgusting– it tasted like plane food(and not the good variety!). It’s a shame the food is so diabolical because it would be the perfect place to have dinner and then a dance in the downstairs club. The club is OK if you don’t mind mingling with some Z-list celebs from reality programmes. Sorry for sounding really cliched but Embassy isnt what it used to be. When I have had a really good time there it has been a private party.

Embassy is both a club and restaurant and though I have not eaten there, I have heard great things about it. As for the club, I have been a few times as me and a few mates have a contact there and can get in for free. The first few times were really good, great music(pop, hip hop, generally commercial) and a good crowd. The club is aesthetically pleasing with the typical massive sofas that most central clubs/bars have nowadays. But the last couple of visits have been really poor, and has been packed with men and hardly no girls, and that is never a good thing. It gets really packed, and has been every single time, and to be surrounded by smelly guys all trying to pounce on about three girls isn’t the greatest site. I think that it is all pot luck with the Embassy, some night have been great, and others have been disappointing. You will be looking at around £20, and it really is a great looking place and always has good beats pumping.
