Cool. Well located. Moderately skilled bar tenders. The two times that I have been to Ember was because it’s close to Farringdon station — so I must say(also, going by what some of my friends had to say) that the location does present an unfair(or fair) advantage to Ember. Plenty of seating space. The orange room is an outdoor area for smokers and in general, seekers of the outdoors. It closes, however, at 930, per a rather inconspicuous notice put up on the glass sliding doors. The cocktails are chalked up on the blackboard in addition to the menu. Looks cool. I ordered a special Mai Tai. Delicious. I will get that again. The dirty martini was alright. Not that it matters, but they also have a very state of the art chrome coffee/espresso machine. Will probably try out the food at some point.

We walked past Ember on the way back to the station with the aim of grabbing a late drink before jumping on the train. I have been to this bar a few times in the past as I used to work in the area and always had a reasonably good time. However, on this occasion the bar was virtually empty, with only three office guys in there. Unfortunately, we hesitated too long and got beckoned in by the three drunken boys feeling a little pity for them drinking on their own. I had a mojito which was ok but nothing special. The bar staff didn’t seem particularly welcoming, perhaps they were hoping to slope off early… I may be being a little unfair as it was the night before new years eve which probably explains why it was so quiet. And based on previous visits I probably would have given it three stars, but on this occasion«i’ve definitely experienced better»

Hmmm… I see what they’re trying to do here. I do, I’m just not buying what they’re sellin’. I’m not picking up what they’re laying down. I’m not diving after what they’re sinking… I’m not gluing together what they’re breaking… You smell what I’m cookin? It’s supposed to be an upscale-y bar for the area, and by upscale, they mean you won’t be able to talk to the person 2 feet from your face because the music is so loud. The basement bar called Sub Ember? Hmmmm… well, I see what they’re trying to do here also, it’s a more intimate dancing kind of bit, but it just doesn’t quite do it for me. Maybe it’s the type of crowd it draws, being the last bar before you hit the tube home, but if I’m after cocktails and non-pub atmosphere, my coals aren’t so hot for Ember.

I think this bar is great — nice and relaxed and the staff are really friendly. It’s great after work to unwind over a few cocktails — in particular the ‘Fat Elvis’. There is a basement which is sometimes hired out or they sometimes have a DJ down there.

This is a trendy bar right next to the tube station, that explain a tourist like a me found it right away. correction I didnt find it. I saw it and thought it would be fun to check out some local spots. A very trendy décor bar/pub. downstairs dance floor. spacious, table. I guess i get used to American dive bar style. this place looks too nice to be a bar, more like a lounge to me The bartender was very«PROFESSIONAL.». took him 5 minutes to mix my drink. in AMERICA(this is definitely unacceptable) but I appreciated his«professionalism» The crowd is definitely locals, groups. not touristy at all. After all I wouldn’t say this place WOWWOW me. rather than brought me a different experience.

Really nice smart bar conveniently placed next to the tube. The staff are really nice, and the décor is lovely. This is a good place to meet friends for a quiet after work drink. It turns a bit clubbier after 11pm or so when they have a dancefloor downstairs.

I popped in here a couple of times as my friends live pretty close. There are a lot of other choices around the area, but at the weekend this place seems to be a little less crowded than its counterparts. It’s perfectly welcoming too with friendly bar staff, and although there isn’ anything unusual to write home about as far as the décor goes, I like that it isn’t pretentious. The drinks and food were pretty reasonable; there’s a good wine list and the cocktails were made well. We had some food, and although the service was a little on the slow side, the food itself was pretty decent. I had a steak and Guinness pie for a fraction of the price of some other local ‘gastro pubs’”.

I’ve met friends for drinks in Ember a few times, more because for convenience of location near Farringdon station than for any other reason. Bar service was friendly and reasonably quick, even when busy. I’ve only ever eaten the mixed bar snacks platters after a good few drinks and they were okay, nothing memorable but topped up a booze-filled gap. We’ve never been lucky enough in the summer to get seats on the teeny-tiny terrace. Ember’s not a bad meeting place but I always prefer to get to Vinoteca early and bag a table there.

i’m not the biggest fan of this place. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with it, it’s just pretty forgettable. I think there’s some sort of rule in Farringdon/Clerkenwell: Great pubs, somewhat average bars. The service wasn’t wonderful, but it was friendly. Although they really should tell you that there card machine isn’t working before you order. I had to scrabble about between friends to get enough to pay for MY round. Annoying. But, the millions of glasses of wine I had were all very nice. I doubt I’ll come back here — it’s right next to a really cool pub, and just down the road from St Germain. There are so many other great choices around these parts I’d be tempted to look elsewhere, despite its very handy location right next to the tube.(Not that that made a difference, I stayed to late and missed my train home. Ooops.)

I didn’t spend any time in the regular bar part; only in the basement room, which can be hired privately. It was large, had lots of comfy sofas around the edge, and had a large bar(rather than a tiny token one sometimes allocated to these sorts of rooms). There’s also a turntable, so they must DJ it up from time to time. It was nothing special, but suited the London Blogger Meetup( ) I was at just fine.

I have been disappointed with 2 lunches. Service is terribly slow. Today it took them 45 minutes to serve our food, and the restaurant was not even half full. The food was not all that amazing either

Not at all sure about this bar. Has a slight Yates wine lodge vibe/décor but it has a slightly better alcohol selection. It seems to not really be sure about its identity. Forgettable I think.
