It is well hidden I generally had not noticed this restaurant although I have driven past it often. The décor of the restaurant is nice and fancy, I generally like restaurants that make an effort for presentation. The service is fantastic, you are not rushed, they are very polite and helpful as well. I was unlucky with my choice of mains hence the 4 and not 5*. The potato gnocchi tasted very bland and the smoked ricotta flavour was overpowering so that overall it was not received well by my palate! I made up for it with dessert, their desserts are very good. The poached pear was very nice with the nougat pudding and their tiramisu was very nice as well. Overall it was a pleasant evening. I will repeat again that the service is fantastic. I wouldn’t mind going again but they need to expand on their non-garlic vegetarian options!

Had a great dinner here for date night last Saturday. Turned u early and so got the best seat in the house(through into the back room, in the nearside corner). Lovely attentive staff but not pushy, great recommendations for wine too. We had the house, which was a steal at £17.50 for the red and really very good. Homemade bread and unbelievable olive oil started the evening well, we ordered olives too, which were good — but had mainly the reddish ones, which I personally find a bit too salty. Will ask for more green next time :) We both ordered only from the specials board, me with scallops first — then ravioli stuffed with mozzarella, potato and sun-dried tomato. SOGOOD. Desserts we went for tiramisu and coffee, which was way too big a portion-size, but still very nice. Il Portico is still my #1, but this is a very close second.

I recently heard that this restaurant, which is pretty close to me, is supposed to be one of the best Italian restaurants in London. So I took my dad and my sister for his birthday and we certainly were not disappointed by the food. I had parmesan risotto with white truffle and monkfish, both of which were delicious, although the risotto portion was huge considering I ordered it as a starter, and the monkfish came with some odd pasta tubes in which were lurking some small stalks of broccoli(maybe just the veg next time?!). My dad had calves liver which was incredible even for someone that doesn’t really like liver(like me). My sister had ox cheek which she said was very tender. They also liked their starters(buffalo mozarella deep fried and mackerel, respectively) although weren’t blown away by them. They both had wine that was recommended for their dishes on the menu(I thought that was a nice feature for people like us who don’t know much about wine). My sister enjoyed drinking white wine of a quality that didn’t involve an unpleasant aftertaste, hehe. Despite the food being generally very good, I was disappointed with the service which was slow the whole night and involved about 6 different people(although they were very pleasant). That’s why I am giving 3 stars instead of 4 — even thought it has better food than restaurants to which I have given 4 stars, when you are paying this much the service needs to be more efficient. Despite this, I would strongly recommend this restaurant. It is expensive but lunchtime/early week deals are great value considering the quality of the food.
