Horrific. Avoid. Gear doesn’t work. Crap backline. Rat-infested. Rude. Over-priced. Poor acoustics. Counterproductive if you actually have work to do with your band. I wasted too many hours of my life in this place and I can never get them back. Don’t make the same mistake.

Some of the rooms have decent equipment and recent sound. Some have shit PAs and amps that break down. Staff are more or less ok; if you are friendly to them, they are friendly back. Central location is very good. As for cleanliness what do you expect of rehearsal rooms full of mostly sweaty men? We once used a studio that was immaculate and gave you free tea and biscuits — but you had to practically be a millionaire to go there.

Yeah, it’s gross in here. Not just a little bit. I manage a band called Mitch and they’re one of the ‘lucky’ ones who’ve bagged their regular time slot. But it means that I sometimes have to sit on sofas with very questionable stains in a sweaty nasty room that smells of ‘boy’. Ick. Gross. And actually, the staff have never been nice. Never unpleasant, but they’d rather you just didn’t talk to them for any reason at all. That said, it’s pretty cheap and right in town. But the equipment is rubbish and they know they’re ripping people off. They are more bands who want rehearsal space than there are rooms so they’ll always win. So I get to spend a few hours each week in a grotty room drinking beer and listening to some good music. So in fairness, it’s really not much different to some of the clubs I pay to get into.

This is the ‘Don’ of London rehearsal spaces and it shows when you can’t book a room a week in advance of rehearsal! And this is despite having about 12 rooms. If you can manage to get your slot though its a good place to rehearse with good backline amps and drums. Staff are knowingly unfriendly and argumentative in a characteristically rock and roll way. Oh Yeah!
