Amazing textiles shop on broadway market specialising in recycled gifts. This shop is packed with brilliant and reasonably priced gifts, you can get beautiful blankets for under £20 and sewing kits to make your own reindeer. The owner of the shop, a lady called Barley is also lovely and really helpful. We will be back to do our Christmas shopping in a few weeks time.

Any shop with a cat living in it is a winner with me. At Fabrications a slightly overweight black and white puss lolls around on the old Winchester at the front of the shop. It’s only a small space but it’s paced with wonderful wools and creative crafts designed by locals. The helpful staff are more than happy to let to have a browse without bothering you and it’s a perfect place to pick up a last minute pressie. If you are browsing around London Fields and are into your crafts this shop it a must. It’s too cute. Of course it’s Broadway prices but that’s what you get when you shop in such a wonderful area of London.

I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered fabrications before Sian invited a bunch of us over for craft, cake and(as it turned out) cats — a winning combination if ever there was one. This is not only an excellent craft supplies shop, it’s also a great meeting point for crafty types and those wishing to learn new skills. The owner is really helpful and made me feel at ease enough not to make a pig’s ear of my knittinga first for me!

With the promise of free champagne and knitting, Siany’s first brilliant Qype event introduced me to Fabrications, an awesome little store for arty and crafty types or those on the hunt for a cool gift. It’s filled with lovely rugs and cushions and an array of DIY craft kits to get you started on your own woolly masterpiece. Barley, the owner, also does bespoke work and runs workshops out of her downstairs studio. Definitely one worth popping your head into. You might even get to have a stab at giant knitting!

Fabrications is a great little find on Broadway Market. Now, I’m not exactly the most crafty person, but if you are, you’ll love this place. The wool in here is pretty, and everything in here kinda makes me want to take up knitting. The owner is really helpful and friendly, and it’s just a really nice place to come and visit. They’ve got loads of unusual crafts in here like French kitting wheels and giant knitting needles. And enough craft kits for you to make your own things when you leave! Everything is well priced, and you’ll find any kind of gift for just about any kind of person. I had my eye on a knitted giraffe last time I popped in to say hi. The hanemade items are gorgeous, and I’m sure if I was more crafty, I’d give this place five stars. It’s a great little venue, on a lovely, somewhat undiscovered street. Come here quick before Broadway Market gets as trendy as Columbia Road. It’s fab.

Having been unable to locate Prink Your Finger last week and not wanting to go into central London to get more wood, I was quite happy to find Fabrications, while strolling along Broadway Market today. I have caught the knitting bug, and just spent £15 on needles and wool, and here I was thinking this would be a cheep hobby. They have great kits here to make different things incase you are in the market to knit yourself a wool penis or titty tassels. This is not your grandmothers yarn store. This tiny space serves as a shop, gallery and studio all in one. They carry a wide variety of wool and needles, it is well worth the trip over to East London.

So it isn’t very often that I would require something from a shop like Fabrications, but yesterday I did. I was sent on a mission to get some cotton thread, luckily I stumbled across this place. I was greeted by a nice lady who apologised straight away for the messy state of the shop, something I was oblivious to as I thought everything looked in order. There is definitely a charm that this shop possesses. There is an interesting mix of products but I guess it is all fabric related, hence the name. There is also a gallery space that you can hire out for solo or group art shows. Anyway, my trip to Fabrications was a success as I found the exact colours I was sent to get. Out of all the places I went to that sell fabric, thread, wool etc. I found this to be the best, and by far the most delightful. I guess that’s Broadway Market for you.

Fabrications is a gallery, shop and studio dedicated to textiles and design. It is a particular favourite during the winter when people flock to buy wool to start knitting hats & scarves during the increasingly chilly months. They have a range of cushions, jewellery, mats and rugs as well as a fairly limited selection of wool and various knitting needles. The space is also used as an artist run gallery and they are often on the look out for people who are interested in putting on a show for a week or so. If you fancy learning some knitting techniques, book yourself in for a class and join a group on a Sunday. They shut up shop, get out Tea, biscuits, & knitting needles for afternoon lessons on everything from making scarves to babies mittens. Personally knitted hats are always on my to do list for Christmas presents, and its great having a wool shop so close to home but for a better, more varied selection its worth going elsewhere.
