I was the only one here for lunch. Quite small but smart inside. And the menu is a list of dishes, chalked up by the counter. I don’t eat meat, and the man who cooks fish hadn’t arrived yet. So, the girl behind the counter and I chatted a bit about what I should have, and we settled on ackee and saltfish. I was cold and it was warm inside. And I forgot to specify that I wanted to sit in. So my food came in a polystyrene carton. Ackee & saltfish, rick and peas and coleslaw. Which was really really nice. I’d forgotted how nice it is, so, I’d warmed up, eaten nice and healthy. And it was all good. And then it came to £6 and I reckon that is properly expensive. Whilst it’s a good serving, that’s a big whack to pay for something with a lot of rice in it. So, as good as it was, I was a bit miffed about that. However, I paid, smiled and left in a good temper…
