A bit hit and miss with atmosphere. Sometimes busy, sometimes dead — either way, a nice place to drink. Friendly staff(most of the time).

The atmosphere was nice. Very busy pub with extra seating upstairs. We tried the chocolate cake and the portion was huge! Drinks tend to be more expensive than other pubs in the area. There are tv screens to watch any games. The staff was nice. We asked for our table to be cleaned and he came back very quickly.

I should have looked at the rating before I sat down to eat. Menus boast of «Great British Pub Food» but they hardly deserve the adjective good. I haven’t been here many times so maybe I was one out of fifty. But the bangers and mash I ordered severely disappointed. The first sausage was perfect but the other two were half burnt. It seemed like someone had taken old cooked sausages and put them on the burner and crisped then until hot, ending up with tasteless, chewy sausages. The mashed potatoes were amazing. But it’s hard to mess up mashed potatoes. And £5.35 for a half pint? Please…

Friendly staff. The ultimate Fish and chips were spot on. Fish was crispy. Peas were bland though. Wild boar burger wasn’t gamely. We had lunch and dinner here and would return to experience a traditional pub atmosphere. Even my kids enjoyed the food.

Pretty poor selection of beer, just the standard cask ales you can find on tap all around London. The clientele in here seems to be a cross-section of commuters, hospital workers, tourists and perhaps the odd local who really doesn’t know what he(or she!) is doing. Not worth visiting this place. Walk over to the Victoria instead.

Good selection of real ales. Traditional inside with plenty of comfy seats. Upstairs room with TV showing sport. Impressive fireplace feature in bar!

Frequented this pub between 2010 – 2011,because it was my local. Was racially abused, insulted, abused(apparently i eat my crisps to loud) in front of staff and other customers. No one did nothing except laugh or pretend it wasn’t happening! Then i was asked to leave by the staff(Kieran, was his name)!. I gave it numerous chances .My phone was stolen in this pub and no one let me see the camera footage. Once again i was asked to leave, once they think your civilized(doormat)they can push you around. The staff are rude little ‘white’ children, the décor is cheap and the customers are racist. The first thing the staff say to you is ’ i’m not being a dick but could you leave we not serving you ‘etc.if you say that to someone you are admitting you are a DICK, a Dick Head. The drink is warm, food tastes like mush. I would only recommend this pub to racist social retards with no taste and a perchance for violence. Avoid like the plague

Certainly a crowded little place if you want to catch a game, however it is exciting to see! My co workers and I came in for dinner and didn’t realize a soccer/footy game was on. The place was packed and even the upstairs area didn’t have much room left. It was really hard to get around and slow service due to the amount of people. The food is nothing to write home about. Very bland really. The fish and chips were nothing special. I am also sorry to say that the beer in the UK overall is not very good. We decided to give it a try and coming from Portland where we have some of the best breweries… it was a bit sad. Had a fun time though — at least I can say I have now been in a true English Pub!

Pretty decent pub and one of at least 3 million in Paddington that claim to have either housed or served Alexander Fleming or that he discovered penicillin thanks to mould spores floating out of their window. The food is good, big portions though a teeny bit pricey and they serve a selection of Young’s and Wells ales and beers which vary throughout the year as well as the usual lagers, ciders and other drinks. The pub is fairly big — lots of seats and tables both in the main area and upstairs and they also have a separate dining area, probably more suited to families with younger children. You can eat outside if the weather is nice and it’s only a short walk to Paddington tube or rail, or the bus stop. On the multiple occasions I’ve stopped off here, the staff have always been friendly and the food doesn’t take too long to arrive, though long enough to let you know it hasn’t just been in the microwave! Overall a lovely pub with a great atmosphere, good food and service.

I was staying at a hotel in the area while traveling and stumbled into the Abbey while looking for lunch. It’s your standard pub, serving up standard pub grub. I had the cheeseburger with fries and it was pretty good. Nothing special, but definitely hit the spot at the time. There’s nothing fancy about this place, though with all of the dark hardwood, tourists and those waiting for the train may feel as though it is one of the more«fancier» pubs in the area. The only problem — and one which plaques visiting Americans like me – is after the currency conversion, your $ 7.00 burger and fries becomes £15.00!

This is a standard run of the mill high street pub. The fish and chips was good and I had the upstairs room pretty much to myself in a comfy arm chair to watch Ireland vs France, but nothing much else to note

Yes I’m American, no I’m not writing this about this one time I came here on vacation 10 years ago. It was only three. Plus I was there last night. Good little pub near Paddington station. Rounds were fair priced, selection was decent and even though it was crowded, we got a seat within 10 minutes, so no complaints. The fireplace was pretty cool looking, not sure if it ever gets lit, but it was definitely a big centerpiece.

There isn’t’ as huge deal to say about this pub, but it is a good place to go if you find yourself having to kill time whilst waiting for a train from Paddington station, which is only a couple minutes away. I came for a drink and a quick bite with some friends as it was convenient and seemed a pretty decent place. We each had a plate of their standard pub food, fish and chips, sausage and mash.

Probiert’s mal.
