Fox Excel

Sportbar mit für Londoner Verhältnisse moderaten Preisen, zumindest in der happy hour.
Bar Food wie Spare Ribs oder Burger gibt es. Die Burger waren relativ gut, aber auch nicht besonders. Mit Salz und Pfeffer kann man hier etwas nachhelfen.
Eher für einen Absacker nach einem Messetag in der Nähe gelegenen Excel Arena geeignet, nur wegen der Sportbar würde man nicht mit der Docklands Light Railway hier rausfahren.

Service is seriously poor. Beer is flat. On 4 different beers. Food is less than average. When we decided to switch to cocktails they staff had no idea on how to make a basic margarita. Avoid this place.

Ahhh the Fox. I have fond memories of this place… When I was an Enterprise Officer I met Mal and had a great night dancing to 8-​bit versions of songs. As Zatana I met Starlord and had another great night getting down to nerdy theme tunes.
During the day at ComicCon I come here to find a seat, have a bit of alcohol to ease the pain of walking in high heels all day and to give me enough Dutch courage or warmth to see me through the rest of the day.
At night… at night the Fox at ExCel is a treasure trove of beautiful women and nerdy men. (Caveat: I have only ever been here after ComicCon) The Fox is THE place to be after the con, screw the parties you have to pay to enter, this is where you come to meet friends you might have missed during the day, to see the cosplayers relax and show off what their costumes allow them to do.
It’s crowded, it’s loud, it’s hot, you NEED to get a stamp on your hand if you are going to be standing outside (otherwise you have to sneak people in through one of the back-​doors) getting served is easier at the top bar, but the dancefloor is where it is at.
Just watch out for all the props, not everyone is forgiving when you break their staff/​scythe/​helmet/​suit.

The Fox at the Excel is the go to place for food and drink whenever I’m there for comic con. The prices are reasonable and the food always good although the service can be a bit lacking once instance we refer to as NachoGate coming to mind straight away.
The last time I was there this past weekend I had the chicken curry which was very nice and came with a generous side of rice and naan. Drinks are a tad on the expensive side but the atmosphere after a convention is always great! It’s rather dull the rest of the time in comparison!

Nicht schlecht für Mittagessen während einer Messe. Gute Bedienung und das Essen ist OK. (Mein Reis was völlig verkocht, aber sonst war alles gut.) Man kann gut hier mit Leute reden.

Nice little pub but it is a «go up to the counter and order then sit down» kinda place. The food is typical standard pub food… and is ok but nothing too fancy. The atmosphere is standard pub — and has a lot of tables both inside and outside on the patio (which is good as it’s next to the WEST entrance of the ExCel conference center and nearby hotels such as Novotel & Crowne Plaza as well as the DLR train station, Custom House).

Ewig gewartet, dafür Fish and Chips überraschend gut. Pup Atmosphäre nur im unteren Stock.

Das Problem dieses Pubs ist, das ich als Tourist eine andere Vorstellung von einem englischen Pub habe. Ansonsten ist es eine anständige Kneipe, die auf Grund des Ausstellungszentrums direkt nebenan riesige Dimensionen hat.

Super ambiance, décontraction totale après une rude journée. Atmosphère cosmopolite. J’ADOOOOOOOORE.
A great spot in London if you need to chill out after a day at the expo centre.

Good enough for a few pints after a show if the DLR is too busy. Or if you just want a few pints.

This place is huge, and it has the potential to be a great bar but it’s always empty every time I pop in there, it has immaculate décor, large tv screens, it has a lower level, out side tables a view over looking the docks.
I know ! It sounds fantastic but the down side is it’s not the cheapest pint around and it’s like a ghost town unless there’s somthing going on in the exel.

This must be a weird pub when there isn’t anything going on at The Excel.
This place is HUGE. Get lost in it while a bit drunk big. Hang on this isn’t where I came in big. Was this the bar I was at earlier, nope, good grief how did I get here big.
Because it has to be. As the Excel kicked out around a thousand rowdy roller derby fans, the staff must feel like the men at Helms Deep about to weather a storm of demanding bar patrons.
And they did so in fine style. Efficiency is key here, take order, serve, change. BANG! On to the next one. It could be impersonal and robotic, but the staff are all friendly — but not at the expense of the speed.
There were plenty of places to sit, and plenty of different areas, so it didn’t just feel like a booze — warehouse.
The only issue I really had with the place was a lack of the most party hard of all spirits — Jagermeister. But to be honest, it’s not a huge problem.

Certainly not the best bar I’ve ever been in. I didn’t feel that the atmosphere was very welcoming.
I found the Polish bar maids here to be surly, whilst not exactly unpleasant, they weren’t very friendly or helpful to a guy who asked for a receipt for his drinks and food.
Admittedly, the bar was busy during a big show at the Excel next door. Food is usual bar ‘fast’ food, although not very rapid in its delivery. It was brought over with no cutlery and I had to go in search of knives and forks, and ask other diners for condiments.
The big open space that must have been an old warehouse down in the docks, was very echoey, and not the sort of place to go for a quiet drink.

Great bar crappy location, unless there is an event the Excel Centre.
I was at an event, but not one that attracted enough to even fill this place! It is huge and over 2 floors. The food was bar average (UK Nachos suck!) and the beer was the usual suspects but at conference premium prices.
1 visit was enough, even though the barmaids were really cute.

You don’t know any cool bars in London? As London, in summer, is a tourist magnet, it is important to know some bars which normally aren’t attended by tourist too much. I recommend you to go to the Fox Bar Excel Centre which is in the Docklands of London. In fact, the Docklands are a vaste complex including a lot of bars, coffee shops, cinemas, etc., but the Fox Bar is unique. Accidentally I went to that bar and that evening there was a diggnation show. Too great. I’ll never forget it!

A pub with fantastic atmosphere and has all the markings of a great local.
This pub has two very distinct faces. The first face, the pub for locals around Royal Victoria Dock and Custome House to go to after work to have a pint and some pub grub.
The second face is the better face, sadly. This is the one when large exhibitions are being run at the Excel centre. when it is busy, rammed to the rafter with a great buzz. Often this happens during the day and so to accomodate this, the better food menu is offered then too.
This is not good for the people who want some pub grub and are offered a substandard menu if you get in there after 5pm
There is a good range of alcoholic and non-​alcoholic drinks as well as plenty of seating on four levels. Each has a slightly different character to it.
All of the bar is welcoming and warm and staff are usually pretty good at serving you.
Prices aren’t too bad but more tailored to the businessman on conference than the local man supping a pint.
