Preface: An Ode to the Shoe Cobbler.
A shoe girl through and through.
So let me tell you.
Love my Bernsons and Blahniks, Al Wang, Loubs and Lou.
And the rest of the Shoe Crew.
So in order to keep your shoe game right:
A well-​kept secret I will give to you tonight.
Rare for me to give five stars.
But Fresh Collection Warren Street is most deserving, by far.
Sure, it’s a chain.
But not all of them are created equally or the same.
This location is the best of the bunch.
I’ll try to describe it before my break for lunch.
To be fair,
Never been to the dry cleaner here.
But the shoe repairman, oh I’ve visited him for years.
Now, this is not his original location.
As he moved, a previous tenant at Goodge Street Station.
Alas, for awhile I’d thought I’d lost him, panicked.
Because when it comes to shoe repair, like my hair,
Meticulous, perhaps a bit manic.
But the Dude Upstairs gave me an inkling, a hint.
After some sleuthing, up Tottenham Court Road I went.
Let me get on with it.
Worn your shoes so much, you think they’re beyond repair?
All you need is to take them here.
Many of my shoes have taken on a life of their own,
After wearing them so much in London alone!
Pounding the pavement, hitting the concrete streets.
Unrecognizable…not even sure they belong on my feet.
Ashamed to wear them in public, too attached to give them up.
Yet I still wish to rock them, imagine! The pluck!
Soles flopping, leather sopping, heels lopsided, a buckle tarnished green.
Any other cobbler would probably demean.
My desire to salvage my poor shoes, and I would understand what they mean!
However, like a true professional the chap indulges me.
And returns my shoes spotless, like new and shiny.
Never a job too big or small, a high heel too tall
Though I should avoid those in the future as I have a tendency to fall.
Anything having to do with repair of shoes.
This is your man, I’m telling you.
Turn right at Warren Street Underground.
Next door to McDonald’s, easily found.
Walk for 30 seconds and there you are.
It’s a weird street, so watch out for the Boris bikes and cars!
And just to elaborate.
I am sure their clothes-​cleaning services are first rate.
