This is my most local shop. It’s where I go when I can’t be bothered to go to the market to do a proper shop. If you’re there on a good day, they have a large selection of produce and snacks and drinks. Unfortunately, they are slow to restock and a bit overpriced. Also, as other reviewers have noted, it can be a bit tight/awkward walking around, as the shop is quite small and narrow. Their produce has a tendency to sit past its prime and they always run out of my favorite ginger beer, but you can’t beat this place for local convenience.

I didn’t know this store when it was half it’s size. I’ve heard stories that it used to be worse than it is now, but then they expanded and it got better. This is the closest convenience store on the walk home to the tube and I stop in here from time to time when I need something quick — soda, bread, alcohol, the likes. It’s not big enough or cheap enough to be my go-to store for my daily living but it’s fine for what it is. It’s tight in here and walking around people(or staff putting away items) can be tough. They’re also not friendly at all behind the booth and rush you in and out. That’s nice when you’re in a hurry but semi-intimidating for a first time in. Overall, nothing amazing, nothing horrible. Basic down the line store.

This shop used to be half the size it is now. An old Barbour shop has since been bought out and built into to create, well, a larger food store. There is nothing that makes this store worth travelling miles just to see(it is, after all, just a grocer-type place) but when your are here you’ll see that it is worthy of it’s four stars. It does indeed sell everything you would expect of a convenience store — with a healthy alcohol section(substantial, not necessarily good for you) — but that should only really equate to 3 stars in my eyes. The fourth star is awarded for the level of cleanliness and the sense of order here at G Express. ALL of the aisles are well stocked with a large variety of goods, neat, tidy well arranged. But the best part of it is that G Express became the first place where it was so clean I could see my own reflection in the floor! THEFLOOR! Alright, it’s not like looking straight into a mirror but the are definite outlines and facial features visible, I could clearly see me — in the floor! Awesome floor. That aside, the staff are all quite chilled and friendly and an impressive modern computer system is running there which includes a large flat-screen TV which doubles up as their CCTV when their not watching football or their favourite show. What a convenience store, TTFN, Ian
