The window display at Gail’s is amazing and makes you instantly want one of everything as each item looks as mouthwatering as the next one! I ended up going for an apple tart to go with my tea as I was a little peckish after being at the gym while C just ordered herself a coffee as she had lunch plans in the afternoon. The portion sizes of the full meals being brought out to the tables around us looked very generous and it made me want to go back here for a proper meal sometime as I do need to try out their bread. The staff were friendly and helpful and there was plenty of them around to deal with the constantly full nature of the café. The seating area is a little tightly packed but I can see why they have it like that as the café was constantly full during the time that we were in there and out table was snapped up the second we left it. I highly recommend checking this place out if you’re ever in London or Chiswick.

seems to differ on location– service and food at chiswick is less appealing than Gails near Tottenham Crt rd. also didnt have the turkish style eggs at the chiswick branch. still great variety of food and pastries for breakfast.

So, Gail’s has grown on me in a big way. In my prior review, I stated that my husband and I were at odds with which bakery is better — Gail’s or Outsider Tart. I was for the latter and I have to admit that I was wrong. Gail’s wins! Aside from the ill positioned toilet, the space is inviting and wonderful. That toilet though, it needs to be placed elsewhere because sometimes unpleasant smells emit from the toilet when the door is opened and since the giant stone table is located directly in front of the door, it can be problematic. Not much anyone can do about that aside from not sitting at the large stone table. I’m still a huge fan of the chocolate chip cookie. It is the closest thing that I have found to a Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookie you’d find in the US. The chocolate isn’t the crappy milk chocolate that you usually find in chocolate chip cookies in the UK. It’s more of a semi-sweet which is what it should be. As for my earlier comments about the dry chocolate cake, it appears that issue has been resolved. First, there are two chocolate cakes — flourless and loaf. The flourless is a dryer cake but the loaf, the loaf is wonderful. It’s moist and has an adequate amount of chocolate icing. The coffee and wifi at Gail’s seems to be hit or miss. There are days when I love the coffee and days when I think it’s terrible. Perhaps some of that is due to whether or not the toilet is emitting smells that day. Who knows. Overall, a good café, maybe the best in Chiswick. Maybe.

I’ve only had carrot cake from Gail’s and only twice, but the variety of goods is amazing and they always have a good turn out. Their carrot cake is AMAZING! I just can’t get enough of it. They have indoor and outdoor seating which is great. There’s also plenty of natural indoor lighting. It has a light rustic feel to it which is pleasant. I feel happy just walking into this place. Will definitely be back again for some tasty treats!

Gail’s is such a sweet Café /Bakery. I am not 100% sure. It covers both areas. I have walked past many times and I have always stopped and peered in to look at all the little naughties that they have displayed in their windows. They do know how to make your taste buds water. So today I sit in Gail’s with my Latte, I have just finished my breakfast muffin with fried eggs and bacon. I am quite content to stay here and just relax, unfortunately I can not. Where there is internet there is work. Craig’s Tip of the Day: If you are in the area and fancy a great cuppa then get yourself down to Gail’s. You will not be disappointed.

A very London-style artisan boulangerie/café. The soup is amazing. I ordered the mushroom soup. It’s REAL mushroom soup — freshly pressed mushroom, with mushroom pieces. Foodstuff — sandwiches, cakes and pastries are beautifully displayed. New concept to open soon, gails .

I went for a quick takeaway and really loved the quality. I really want to go for a breakfast there as I could gossip, they have amazing looking bread, pastries, sandwiches and the coffee was top quality. So it was the pain au chocolat. They even have a massive kitchen on the back, so I clearly need to come back. I don’t think I will be disappointed. Much nicer place for a brunch/breakfast than the High Road Brasserie.

Delicious stuff here and a great coffee-shop atmosphere! I especially liked the very large table provided at the back of the café for people to be able to read a paper comfortably. Gail’s had the tastiest sausage roll that I have ever eaten and the coffee was good quality too. A little expensive but you get what you pay for, I suppose! Highly recommended!

Great coffee ad cake at Gail’s. We have been using Gail’s for the past couple of years and love the cakes & fresh bread. It is not cheap but worth every penny.

I’ve never tried rhubarb before. So when I saw their rhubarb breakfast dish, I just had to give it a try. I must say that it provided me a good experience with the vegetable. Clean surroundings and good variety of offerings.

Gail’s, I was a sceptic, now I’m a believer. I was a sceptic, I guess, because of the Yummy Mummy clientele that Gail’s appears to have. And the rather posh choice of ingredients. Together, I thought these would add up to overpriced and so-so produce. I must apologise, for I was wrong. The first sign of this came with a poppy-seeded bun I had with chicken and some kind of pesto-ey froth type thing. I can’t remember what it was, but I do remember that it was delicious and certainly above average. Then I feasted on a granola slice. No gallons of butter, honey and a sprinkling of oats here, rather a densely packed and delightful mixture of oats, cherries, almonds and subtle hints of, was it cinammon? Whatever, it was probably the best such granola slice I’d had. I’ve also tried their bread at the nearby Waitrose, which is also good(and more in the £3 range from what I can make out). Overall? I’m impressed. Will I return? Certainly.

One of the most over-priced places for a cup of coffee. Went there on the suggestion of supplier to meet for light lunch and chat. Great display of cakes and bread, but at prices that are only appealing to folks who have more money than sense. Still, the place is packed with bottled blonds, faked tan moms and over-sized buggies. Good coffee but nothing extraordinary. The salad was over £6 and no more than a fistful in a large bowl. Obviously, the right quantity for the West London ladies. The place contradicts itself. The chairs and tables are too unwieldy for buggies, yet it is full of them. The food is carb, fat and sugar loaded yet a large number of customers are ladies who diet. Chiswick is no Marylebone Village but it is pricing itself there. Will I return? Only if all the other cafes are full or shut.

Destroying the £3-a-loaf Bread Shop next door is Gail’s with their £4-a-loaf bread. They must thank their lucky stars that Franco Manca only sell their £7-a-loaf bread on Saturdays, otherwise all the Chiswick mum’s would flee to where they can really spend some quality dough. * pun intended * To their overpriced credit, Gail’s does do wonderful bread, amazing pastries and Chiswick’s best coffee. A ludicrously priced flat-white at Gail’s is almost worth the cost when Starbucks next door is so pathetic in comparison. Also going good for Gail’s is streetside tables for people watching(or should I say mum’s with twins watching… this being Chiswick).

The carrot cake here is amazing — I had it once before and had to try again yesterday. I have tried their soups, tarts and paninis in the past and have liked them all. The seating is a bit limited but we usually go in the afternoon when it’s not too busy so haven’t had trouble finding an empty table/corner.

What can I say about this place? The Coffee is great, the food is great, the staff are great, it is of a much better quality than starbucks/costa/nero. I garuntee once you have been to Gail’s you won’t want to go back there again. As soon as you walk in you are bombarded with so many delicious things to look at, it honestly takes me around ten minutes just to decide what to get because everything looks so delicious. I highly recommend the carrot cake, it is out of this world. Even when the shop gets really busy(Saturday mornings are mayhem), your food and coffee still arrive within a reasonable time and are of the best quality. The only bad thing about this place is that its not big enough so sometimes you do have to share a table with someone you don’t know but apart from that, its excellent.

This place was just opened when I decided to give it a trial, at the beginning of june, on a sunday morning. Is a small bakery, they’ve got a small kitchen too for breakfast, soups, salads. But their topic is the pastry. The big window is incredibly full of good looking sweet treat of any kind(brownies, carrot cakes, spongecakes, croissants, cheesecake, bread, fruit cakes), all of them really colorfull and so yummy! As always, even though is good to see, I don’t like the fact that anyone passing by can touch the food, or sneeze on it because there is nothing separating the customers from the window. Anyway I ordered a cappuccino and a pain au raisin. They do serve your food at the table, so all you have to do is find a seat. Is a small place, with a big communal table with 10 seats, and 3 tables for 4⁄6. For the first time since I’m in London the cappuccino was served at the right temperature, ready to drink(that was really impressing to me, since it takes me always half an hour to be able to drink a cappuccino without burning badly my mouth!). Was really well made and the foam didn’t disappear while I was stirring it. The pastry was really rich in butter but so good. Crunchy, fresh, with lots of raisin. Is a lovely place for a treat, if you need a break and a good coffee(I’ll be back to try the savoury stuff). One spot only: is really pricey! Cappuccino and pan au raisin(eat in) = £ 5.00. But you can’t really complain when you get good quality!
