Shoreditch was really missing a place like this. There are galleries and there are furniture stores, but there wasn’t a gallery whose job it was to showcase contemporary home and garden furniture until Fumi. I love the concept of functional home commodities designed not only for the home but to become art installations in galleries like this. The space itself is all bare brick walls and muted paints so that the chairs, lighting, tables and lamps stand out but it still somehow feels warm and cosy, as if you’re walking around the curator’s home filled with unusual artifacts. My favourite artists were John Harrington and Francisco Sarria but the space is constantly changing so I’ll be back before long.
