Food is ok, nothing fabulous but the service is sadly hit & miss and today is a miss. Feeling like we’re being overlooked and that it’s an effort to give us service. Thankfully there are plenty of other places to eat in Blackheath.

While visiting England I ate with my family in this restaurant which is kinda in Blackheath we were treated nicely by our waitress but the person who took the best care of us and went way beyond was the manager doville ruseckaite she even charged my I phone a little to help me out. The restaurant is kid friendly quite large very clean with a good view of the street … I will visit it again when I return next year

Giraffe is my favourite restaurant in general, so my delight at one being opened in the village, just a short walk away, made me extremely happy. I’ve been here with my aunt, cousin, sister and nephew a few times(they’re so family friendly), brought my mum there for a few drinks, had dinner there with my boyfriend… every time I enjoy myself. My only issue lately is that they used to change the menu so often and it hasn’t changed in a long while, and considering, since the Tesco buyout, both their food and cocktail menus have been reduced so dramatically(my favourite bar buddy cocktails have vanished without a trace!), I would expect a more frequent change if anything, but it’s put me off going for a while, because I don’t want to keep eating the same thing over and over again. The food is great, though, and I love the place!

Breakfast at Giraffe came down to ordering three drinks each and three breakfasts between two of us. It was brunch, so that’s how we learnt to live with ourselves. We called the third breakfast(Brioche French toast with compote and yogurt) dessert. It was delicious(it featured fried carbs and sugar– duh!) and the very kind staff let us order it even thought we were strictly beyond the breakfast cut off time by then. But even at that, it was a step below the savoury breakfasts. Full review here:

I don’t know why Giraffe is so popular. It’s a cramped, unfomfortable restaurant with poor quality food and relatively high prices for what is almost a high end ready meal. The burgers are miserably small(6oz of beef, and no option for a double), contain a pathetic amount of salad, and the cheeseburger my 9 year old son ordered had bacon with rind so soft he started choking after accidentally swallowing it. The mexican items we ordered were priced at over £10 each, plus the optional 12.5% service charge and were also of poor quality. It wouldn’t surprise me if they’d come pre made in a packet and were simply placed into an oven to reheat. The desserts were all priced at over £5 each, and were quite ordinary considering the price. If you want somewhere for a family pizza, go to Pizza Express next door. If you’d prefer Mexican, go to the Cactus Pit. For a burger, go to Gourment Burger Kitchen or Byron in Greenwich. The service on the busy Saturday night we visted was acceptable, but I can’t recommend anyone go to Giraffe Blackheath. If you’ve got kids, you can get much better value elsewhere, and if you’re a group of adults, you can get much better food and a nicer atmosphere just about anywhere!

So happy that we have a Giraffe here! It’s a tried and tested formula that’s really kid– friendly, reasonably-priced and, above all, they serve decent food. It’s a fail safe when you’re looking for somewhere that will cater for lots of different tastes. I hope they are providing some much needed competition for Handmade Foods, staff at Giraffe are always friendly, courteous and accommodating.

It’s about time for a child friendly restaurant in blackheath. Now all of the nannies & parent can come and relax in a environment were no one looking at you to shut your child up or lifting they eyebrow at pushchairs. Great staff, good food.

Very very noisy(bad acoustics, lots of screaming and crying children and background music adding to the mix), service was slow, the burger buns were that awful powdery cheap white bread and lunch for two without alcohol was £40! Which included a 12.5% service charge. Im afraid I was totally underwhelmed and wouldn’t go back, which is a shame because the other branch I visit on the Southbank has always been great.
