This Godiva store just in Covent Garden is impossible to walk past! Godiva chocolate is originally from Belgium, and although not my absolute favourite, it is pretty damn delicious. The individual sweet lined up in the counter are just irresistible, but be warned, this is a fairly expensive way of purchasing chocolate. We brought four individual chocolates and it came to over £6! Better value are the chocolate bars, my favourite being the salted caramel. Still around the £6 mark but you feel like you are getting more bang for your buck. They will give away a couple of free samples, particularly if you are cheeky enough to ask. The girl who was serving in here when we visited was very friendly and let us try a couple of their new chocolates. They do some lovely gift boxes here and some great Easter gifts, perfect for that special person in your life. They are currently also selling hot chocolate here which is divine — I would even go as far as to say it’s one of the best hot chocolates I have ever sampled. Come here for this if nothing else.

My mum loaves Godiva chocolates, so I headed out in the rain to find this shop and get some for her for a Christmas present. The lady who served us(she’s from Kent…) was wonderful! She was helpful and polite, and let us try a few samples first. This would definitely be my first choice for Godiva chocolates now, based on the amazing customer service we received — and the chocolates were yummy!

Lacking the vast amount of time required to analyze and pick enough chocolates to fill even the smallest box, I asked the seemingly nice man behind the counter to pick some out that my wife would like, given some parameters. He was happy to oblige, and now I know why. I gave him the guidelines and he packed it up. And when my wife opened the box, it turned out he went out of his way to pick ones she would not like. I will not be back.

Like most praline shops, their chocolates go for approximately £10/100gr. I’ve noticed that generally pralines go for 10(insert local currency) for 100gr. I’ve never been a fan of godiva, but where I was first introduced to them(Canada) they had mostly dark chocolate filled with alcohol. They still have that, but they seem to have diversified enough to have a nice range of pralines as well. So I’m a happy kitten. A delicious little stop on my way to meet friends. I’ll often pop in and get me 1 or 2 pralines to nibble on before meeting everyone. At about £1 each, it’s definitely worth it! p. s. they’re also nearly 200kCal each(apparently) so 1 or 2 a day are about as many as one can afford to have on a regular basis.

Is there anyone who can truly resist the charm of good chocolate. Godiva’s window will have you slavering and slobbering but their prices may make you balk. The chocolates are great and if you’ve the money would make a perfect gift for someone special. We recently treated ourselves to a couple of truffles which broke the bank considering we ended up with 3 each. Still they were superb and I’d say yes if offered again!

As a Belgian, I tend to get really frustrated that Godiva had to be the one Belgian chocolate chain to make it big outside the country since they happen to be my least favourite chocolatiers in Belgium! I would only use this chain as a last resort when I am home. That being said, since Godiva is usually a universally acknowledged tasty brand, you can now begin to imagine the grandeur and decadence of what I believe would be Belgian chocolate. I just feel that Godiva has become a bit of a sell-out in quality and offers goods that are not as authentic as they should be. This is what corporate greediness does to you! It serves a decent batch of chocolates for England, but at overtly high prices and a lesser quality. For the best Belgian chocolate experience, I’m afraid you will just have to hop on the Eurostar to Brussels.

The finest chocolates to be had in the capital Godiva truly are master chocolatiers. And of course the price of their chocolate reflects that, I paid an eye watering £8 for six chocolate dipped strawberries! The question I suppose that you really want to know is was it worth it? And I can honestly say hand on heart ohhhhh yesss, every chocolate dipped minute.

Probably the best chocolate you can get in London. Nowhere near the French standards of chocolatiers but still yummy! I am munching it whenever on any high profile event:) you can never go wrong with this when buying something small for ‘his’ mommy. Posh, elegant(they give away nice paper bags to carry the chocolate in and they are big and proper so you can use it afterwords, they’re always handy). prices are what you’d expect it to be, little bit too much:)
