Posh and lovely, Good Godfrey’s is a great little bar which serves delicious classic cocktails in a comfortable, welcoming environment. Service was top shelf, as were the cocktails. I had the signature«Perfect Host» which did not disappoint. An ample cheese platter was also enjoyed by our party, and for some strange reason two of the ladies with us immensely enjoyed the small salty snacks they place on each table. We requested, and received without hesitation, several refills of the snacks. I thought at such a high-end establishment having a party basically powering down bowl after bowl of gratis snacks would be considered gauche, but you’d never know that by the pleasant service. If you’re looking to have an elegant experience and sip some well-crafted cocktails, Godfrey is your man.

Enjoyed a late night cocktail here. I arrived late after a delayed train journey and the Manhattan was the perfect drink to help relax in the Lovely 1920s ambiance and comfortable surrounding. The staff were polite and prompt. I was a little disappointed that I just missed the 11pm kitchen cut off so no bar food; it would have been nice if the staff could have arrange for the kitchen to provide something even just some olives and bread.

A great little bar inside the Waldorf Hilton. Named after a 1920s band leader. Open late for hotel guests.(Midnight-ish but later than the pubs.). Calling it «private» apparently adds two hours to closing time. Nice atmosphere, fairly quiet with Big Band Musak. The décor is not quite as nice as the Rivoli Bar at the Ritz but drinks are just as good and 20% less expensive, plus the service is better. Staff takes time to talk about where they are from(all over Europe) and exchange notes about the good and bad about various destinations. Great service. They make a proper Vesper Martini, with Lillet Blanc – which is difficult if not impossible to find in the States. Only shortfall is the lemon peel is a bit too small but it’s easy to ask for two of them. Not aesthetically pleasing but provides sufficient lemon oil to the cocktail. Four choices of good but reasonably priced champagne by the glass. Decent late night snack menu, available until 11pm. Additional salads, soups and pies but only until 7:30pm.
