Nice, small gallery with changing exhibits. Most of what they display can also be bought. The building was a bakery up until about 15 years ago, and thankfully they still have the original bread ovens to view in the basement. You can pop in to just view some art, or purchase with prices from just a few pounds and upwards.

Great little gallery worth making the trip to Denmark Hill for. I am lucky to know one of the artists included in the current show. Rather than working towards an overriding theme, the exhibition is defined by the size of the works — all pieces measure 40×40 cm. A good size which works well for photographs and paintings alike — and fits on regular walls in regular homes. No wonder quite a few pieces were snapped up on opening night! Mince pies were a nice touch! I wonder if I’d even noticed this gem if I had just walked down the road. The main shop window on Denmark Hill is dedicated to the framing business. The main gallery space is towards the back of the building with a separate entrance from a side street. Beautiful basement gallery!

Interesting gallery which has been much developed and extended over the past decade. Current exhibition is the annual Ed Gray show. Ed is best known for his«gritty» take on London life but has recently been producing work inspired by his worldwide travels. Prices for Ed’s work have become a little eye watering over the past year or two but it’s still well worth making the trip to Camberwell for a look. For the perfect afternoon follow up your culture with some excellent tapas from nearby Angels and Gypsies.

If the aluminium cladding does not put you off ever going near the GX Gallery then you may be pleasantly surprised. In the several rooms which make up the gallery you will find regularly changing exhibitions, some good, some not so good. This may not and is not the best gallery in London, but as art galleries are rather scarce south of the river, it is just nice to have something here to look at and appreciate.

This is a great gallery. I would specifically recommend their framing service. My husband and I went in to ask about getting a painting framed and they were so helpful and really took the time to talk through lots of different options with us. The end result was brilliant and we were 100% satisfied with the service. The gallery downstairs exhibits interesting and fairly modern work, and they especially favour the work of Ed Gray, whose painting really are worth a look. Great stuff.
