In my opinion, this very attractive restaurant has a wonderful modern and clean exterior. However, upon entering it was a dimly lit restaurant with a broken light in the ceiling, which made reading the menu very difficult for everyone in our group of 8. The plus was all of food arrived simultaneously, which is an apparent improvement compared to previous visits. But with weak coffees that were served to several in our group, it was quickly apparent that the service could be improved. Waiting 10-minutes for the first macchiato was odd. Additionally, the vegan options are limited to toast and jam. Won’t be going back.

Great breaky spot on the edge of the canal. Friendly staff who are a little bit slow but can make a damn fine coffee(caravan coffee beans). It’s a generally relaxed cosy, but kinda edgy, place to start your Saturday or Sunday. The breakfast menu is classics done really well. There are poached eggs with salmon and av(my second favourite), and, my favourite, truffles mushrooms with poached eggs. There’s also Bircher, an omelette and a big breakfast with black pudding. The sides are all 1.50 which is cheaper than most around here. For those needing a hair of the dog, they do a 10⁄10 rated Bloody Mary. There is also a well put together Cocktail list and many craft beers to pick from(the kernel table beer is a perfect day after the night before). They do lunch and dinner too but I ha e only been here for breakfast. This is the share plate style eating with a couple of standards on their fixed menu and a large list of specials(think terrine, gnocchi, cerviche etc). All of this looks really good and I would assume by the amount of ppl in here at nights that they are doing something right here too.

Great coffee. Amazing food! A little bit awkward waiting for a takeaway coffee standing literally next to people eating… Other than that, Awesome!

Really nice breakfast and dinners. The salmon and sourdough toast is a winner in our household. Coffee can be a bit bitter at times but the staff does a good job if there’s any complaint. Recently was in for dinner as well which I quite enjoyed.

The ideal spot for brunch! After a walk round the park or a stroll along the canal Hackney Bureau provides a very well located place for a refuel. If a bacon and avocado based brekkie, washed down with a very freshly squeezed OJ and a excellently made coffee is your thing then you’ll love this joint. The ingredients are tasty and fresh and everything is prepared in the open kitchen. Delicious food, great service at a very reasonable price :)

A small place with fantastically friendly and helpful staff. We had dinner here, and the meat-focused menu was full of things I’d love to try, the few vegetarian options sounded great too, mind. I had a rib-eye steak that was well cooked and tender. It was an 8 out of 10, perhaps a bit underseasoned, there was a little way to go still for steak perfection. We got potatoes and green beans as sides, which were gloriously buttery as promised. The side of potatoes for three quid literally was a single potato quartered and roasted, but they did some extra secret unidentifiable magic to it. My dessert was pecan pie with vanilla ice cream, which was initially over-sweet but a few mouthfulls in, and I was in heaven. We were four people, and the bill was £26 per head including some good house wine and the two courses with sides. Very hard to complain.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve had in London! The ingredients are really fresh, the menu is simple but everything looks worth trying. I had an ‘eggs royale’ which is poached eggs with smoked salmon and hollandaise on English muffins, and it came with a small salad. It was de-li-cious. Like, I had to stop myself from licking the plate! The place is quite small so I’d go fairly early on a weekend day. To try absolutely.

Excellent brunch! Both the full breakfast and the veggie breakfast are very good. There is often a wait for tables but you can sit at the bar or there is lots of space on the pavement out front. Good, strong coffee too.

Small and comfortable place which prepare healthy food. I had lunch there one time and i ordered a fantastic soup of fish and potatoes. It was delicious, expecially the buttered bread was fantastic.

I came here on a lazy Sunday afternoon to meet up with a friend. As the new trend amongst the newer hackney café’s is to not have a sign, you may initially walk by this place. But fear not, there is a sign — although it’s quite small! — in the front window. I had a flat white which was amazing and not too badly priced at £2.20. They also had lots of cakes and sandwiches but I just came from brunch so I opted to stick with coffee. The staff were super friendly and despite the café being rammed, they were quite quick with our orders. Pretty much every table was filled with someone on a laptop or tablet. So I assume that this place also has free wi-fi but don’t quote me on it!
