Been local to Southgate for quiet some time but had not ventured into H+H as I thought it was a new coffee brand that would be expensive and pretentious but I can assure that price nor false identity is the case. Coffee: Good quality coffee and believable that they only select a minimum of 85% to 100% in hand picked quality coffee beans Price: £3 for a large cappucino. Surely within the league table of other well known coffee shops in the pricing department Ambience: Calm and peaceful atmosphere, well lit, excellent customer service Downfalls: The view of Southgate high street, but, if you are a local then you sure are used to it.

I love this place. Been going there for a Sunday afternoon cuppa since it opened. Live their hot sandwiches, teas and coffee of course! They do live music there on Sundays and the staff are friendly and unassuming.

Southgate High Street is not the most beautiful or interesting place to get retail therapy, nor is it the most relaxing as the heavy traffic rumbles on through, but this gem of a coffee house certainly makes it a whole lot better/tolerable. Opened about a month ago, this place is beautifully decked out with retro cocktail chairs, bare brick walls and has a great feel about it, even when it was empty. The staff were attentive, knowledgeable and wore a smile(amazing just how much of a difference that can make to a place isn’t it?). Not much more to say really, other than the coffee was fantastic, even managed to win over my rather opinionated mother and she even noticed that the barrista went through the process of cleaning his hands each time he served a new customer — for all you clean freaks out there, got to be a plus! Oh, try the shortbread, not only do you get 2 ‘cookies’, but they are amazingly crumbly. Trust me, try them, and get me one while you are there!
