Harrison’s

I’m yet to eat here yet however their hidden basement cocktail bar is great with its little sofa booths and ‘private party’ feel. The cocktails are top notch and they even do happy hour cocktails during the week when they are an absolute bargain for the quality of the drinks. We will be trying the food soon!

Harrison’s was a nice little spot — the gals and I enjoyed dinner and drinks here this evening. My friends had the fish curry, which they all said was tasty (they all finished it, so it must’ve been good!), and I enjoyed the zucchini/​pea/​goat cheese risotto.
A good place if you’re in Balham — the staff was nice enough, though the food service was a bit slow (eh, actually forgetful of one of my friend’s appetizers, oops — but, they made it up on the house :-)).
I’d go back if I happened to be in the neighborhood and was looking for a good bite. :-)

First visit to Harrison’s, despite living in Balham for almost two years! They’ve just renovated and the place looks good. Service is friendly, and the food is good. Not the best and not the most creative, but decent food and a place I would probably go back to again and again as a local neighbourhood restaurant. Prices are reasonable and they do some interesting drinks.
Do try the welsh rarebit pork chop and the lamb fritters — pretty amazing!

Great place for food and drink.

It was my second visit to Harrisons today. My beetroot starter was delicious and beautifully presented, but my cod curry was slightly lacking in flavour. I have to say, slightly disappointing. Esp. after I had told my husband how good it had been on my first visit with friends. He had also ordered the cod curry and had wondered why I had made him travel there. Perhaps we just ordered badly as the sunday dinners which were being served did look excellent.
The service was though was excellent and it’s a nice place to spend a couple of hours. But, is the food worth going out of your way for? I’m not sure.

Awful waitress, super unfriendly. We all had the burger — as does everyone around brunch time — and it was pretty good. One thing I appreciated was the way they split the place into half families, half adults. No need to be mixing those two groups!
I don’t like the fact that every time I walk down the side of the restaurant you walk past one or more chefs smoking.

It was our first time here and we went mid week for a dinner, the restaurant was about half full. We were met by the assistant manager who showed us to our table and actually introduced himself which gave it a personal touch.
Harrison’s is laid out nicely with the bar in the centre and the brasserie bit being wrapped around it on either side. The lighting is quite dark but it made it feel cosy. Food was alright, nothing amazing and it felt like it was a bit overpriced.
The biggest let down was the service, throughout our meal it felt like we were forgotten about. When we were ready to order and at the end of the meal when we wanted to pick up our coats there was no one to help us. They seemed to disappear for ages at a time and it wasn’t even busy!
If it wasn’t for the poor service I would give it another go, I won’t be returning for that reason.

I’ve eaten here several times, first as Balham Bar and kitchen and now as Harrison’s and while the food has never set me alight and it’s soho prices out in the sticks I have to say i’m something of a fan and here’s the why. It is very seldom in Balham that you find a really well made drink. the guys who work behind the bar at Harisons know their stuff and love it when you know what you want, so when i ambled in and asked for a Negroni I didn’t get a blank stare like I did at B@1, instead I got a compliment on my taste in drinks and a beautifully made cocktail. One night me and my other half we made it through a £100 on Old Fashioneds alone but it was well worth it.
Breakfast here is also nice, very sedate and nice surroundings, but i wish I could order a bloody mary to accompany it.
It’s a classy place, nice décor etc… well worth a look in.

Nice quite gastropub, great for a family get together.
The Sunday roast was very good and the wine list was quite nice.
The wait staff were OK, but I did find that they disappeared for times during the meal.

Amazing burger, probably my favorite in London.

They have a great lunch offer on — £12 for 2 courses. A appetising starter followed by pieces of plaice on new potatoes. We shared a side dish of spring greens and had a large glass of wine each.

the service was really crap from the waitress. i think the host said more words to us than the waitress. food was decent (not *super memorable*) but i think that’s because i didn’t order the burger. 99% of the dishes from the kitchen = burger.

It’s a nice little spot to have in your neighbourhood. We often find ourselves stopping by for a drink and a light appetizer after work. On the weekends it’s packed as the food is pretty simple and affordable. But I will say that not everything on the menu is spectacular. It’s quite hit and miss really. Sometimes you have something completely delicious and other times you are left sorely disappointed. The straightforward dishes without lots of descriptions seem to the best – items like the asparagus with poached egg and hollandaise and the steak with chips are good choices.
It’s also with noting that the staff are friendly and the environment is really family friendly. We had a baby in our group this past weekend and the staff made every effort to find us a spot that would have enough room for the pram and be slightly quieter. It’s nice to be able to go to a restaurant that’s a step up from pub food and still be able to bring the little ones along.

Harrisions has perfected the brasserie genere of dining. The food is very satisfying no matter what time you eat, i strongly reccomend the breakfast menu! The resteraunt area is always busy although even at peak times I’ve never had to wait longer than 15 — 20 mins for a table and the trendy bar area is a delight to sip a cocktail while waiting. The staff are friendly and professional but definatley not stuffy and uptight. Definatley the best eatery in Balham! Highly reccommened!

Absolutely great food. Lots of networking and interesting events going on too. I hear they have a bridge club starting next year.

A favourite ‘recovery’ place of mine on a Sunday! The food is great, the waiters are attentive (not too much that you feel uncomfortable) and most of all the ‘hangover cures’ (some people like to call them cocktails) hit the spot every time! You can chill and read the papers or eek out the last few hours of the weekend getting slightly giddy…
I prefer to spend time here having a meal rather than just using it as a bar as I find they are struggling a bit to create the type of atmosphere where you would spend a few hours getting merry (plus the prices are more suited to the west end!) In saying that I really like the fact that the bar staff will create you a cocktail if you tell them the kind of things you like… they have never got it wrong for me so far!

Only been to Harrisons for a drink but really enjoyed the feel of the place. Great high tables, relaxed atmosphere and very efficient staff. Its a great place for a drink for a chat. Great beers on tap and the wine list is very extensive. Not eaten here yet but the food looks great.

Offering a classy atmosphere and top-​notch food, Harrisons is one of the best balham haunts for the upwardly mobile.
I think the burger is in contention for best balham burger, and the wines are well chosen and served in enormous glasses. I especially like the way you can sit at a high table on stools with other punters and feel like you’re in america.
