2014 Unilocal365CHALLENGE — 230⁄365 Awesome UK mens’ clothing shop that my dad and I stumbled upon whilst in London this past week. Jermyn Street is known for being lined with dozens of mens’ clothing stores, and Hawes & Curtis easily became our favorite out of the bunch. This location is pretty easy to find. It’s right next to the Cavendish Hotel(coincidentally where we were staying), and across from the famous Fortnum & Mason store. This location is actually one of two located on Jermyn Street. I think the other location, closer to Piccadilly Circus, may be the original location, but this location was the first one we discovered. There weren’t any other customers when we went, but we had a great experience nontheless. My dad and I had a hard time finding shops on Jermyn Street that had dress shirts that would fit him. My dad is a 5’9″ Filipino man with 15.5÷32 shirt measurements. We stepped into other stores on Jermyn St and they told us right away that my dad would be too small for their shirts, as they mostly cater to the average British man. A lot of the stores had arm lengths starting at 35+, and my dad’s preferred length is 32. A sales associate at Hawes & Curtis told us they had shirts starting at 33, so we decided to give it a shot. Hawes & Curtis has 4 sizings — very slim, slim, tailored, and classic fit. Our sales associate was VERY helpful and informative, and helped my dad to find his perfect fit. We then began our hunt for the perfect 15.5÷33 slim or tailored shirts(both fit him well). My dad liked that they offered both single and double(French) cuffed shirts, as double cuffed shirts are much harder to find in the United States. The thing that also drew us into Hawes & Curtis was that they had a special sale going on where they had shirts that were 4 for 90GBP. My dad is a sucker for good deals so this was definitely a steal in comparison to other shops on Jermyn St that were selling shirts for 80 – 100GBP a pop! So expensive! They also had some clearance shirts that were only 19.95 which was really excellent as well. The only reason why I am giving 4⁄5 stars is because I felt like their selection was a little limited. My dad only had a few shirts to pick from, and I wished there was a bigger variety. We later discovered that there was another Hawes & Curtis located right down the street(I believe it may be their original location), and that location seemed to feel much larger. Overall, my dad became a HUGE fan of Hawes & Curtis, and ended up purchasing 4 shirts from this location, and 4 from the other location just down the road. Highly recommend for good quality, affordable, and double cuffed dress shirts!
