Nice location and décor. We had a selection of mixed starters, nice, the shish kebab red pepper was tasty and not at all like a vegetarian dish. For my mains I was very impressed with the hummus with lamb. a very different taste . Service was ok. A standard turkish restaurant

This is a Turkish restaurant, located in Canary Wharf. It has a café on one side and a restaurant on the other. I tried their mixed grill, which was delicious. The atmosphere is more quiet and good for a romantic date. However, the service was quite slow, as the waiters are not very attentive.

A friendly little riverside café close to the picturesque dock’s The pasta dish I had was excellent and a nice healthy portion However, I do feel that the café could do with a general clean up as its appearance is a bit shabby once you’re inside The toilets leave a lot to be desired and very dark and small This is a real shame as I would have visited again as the food is very good.

Went out for dinner for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised by the location as you can have a view of the river. Interior design was beautiful and the presentation overall was good. However, it was packed and service did take some time(definitely book in advance especially for a Friday or Saturday). When the food came, it was delicious and they were courteous as it was delayed. The restaurant also has a café attached so you can just enjoy Turkish snacks and tea.

My first time eating Turkish food and what a great introduction! Ordered off a set group menu so had the opportunity of tasting many of the dishes they had to offer. For my main meal had aubergine and lamb which was delicious. As we were a large group we had our own room which was very nice.

Nothing too exciting in terms of food or atmosphere, but it is just tasty and hearty Turkish food. It has a wide selection of hot and cold meze dishes which are ideal for sharing. The vegetarian mushrooms with cheese main dish is my personal favourite. The place also has a café and a bar area so quite convenient for many occasions. The restaurant is quite big so service is not great(i.e. takes a bit of time to order/get your food, etc), but staff is friendly and helpful.

My second attempt to this restaurant after a very dissapointing first. This time I recognize most of the Turkish dish after my trip to istanbul. For starter, we ordered prawn in garlic, tomatoish sauce. Ordered the lamb shank and stuffed squid as main. All good except the stuffed squid not the best, not as tasty as we thought. For dessert, we ordered milk rice pudding and kadayif with walnut(rather than pistachio) again very dissapointing, overly sweet, the cinnamon overpower the dessert and it doesn’t taste good in general. Not sure if I have tasted the real thing that’s why I have something to compare to but for sure there is room for improvement to bring the local taste to London. As for service, have to say it is very bad. We were guided to our table and after the main, basically we have to catch the attention of several waiters passing by us to bring us water, dessert menu and bill. It is quite annoying because we are sitting right at the place where it leads to the kitchen door. I will not strongly recommend this restaurant to my friends but I guess is a quick fix for Turkish food…

Good ambience, decent bar but average food. There is a lack of a clear identity on what kind of food they want to serve.

To be blunt, the deli was full of savoury dishes that made us wish we had not already eaten and unusual non-alcoholic sweet drinks that kicked the virgin cocktails to the ground. We had tea to accompany our cake though. There were a lot of cakes to choose from and many of them newbies in my cake eating experience, hence it was a tough choice that cake decision. Ultimately we homed in on Hazev pie. See full review at

Stumbled upon this wonderful place after ice skating and I must say it is really quaint considering it’s right along the water. It was my first time at a Turkish restaurant and although the menu items were hard to pronounce, the food was fairly good! We ordered the falafel and our waitress also recommended the borek(set of 4 triangles filled with spinach and feta cheese — similar to samosas!). It was the perfect starter combo for 3 people along with the complimentary bread and olives. I’d say this is a great place for vegetarians as they have an amazing selection! Overall great service but it was a bit slow so you could see waiters/waitresses staring at their tables.

Came here for a leaving do — not many Turkish restaurants in the area so glad to have this restaurant near by. Inside is huge — and it’s right next to the docs so many window tables get an amazing view. The place comes with bread and olives for free appetisers. Bread is good but they don’t give you that much — you can always ask for more — it’s free. The food came out super quick. I ordered the mix grill with sauce(forgot the Turkish name for it) and before I knew it the waiter was ready to served the dish to me. Overall it’s not the best Turkish in London but it does provide a place to go to is you’re craving Turkish in Canary Wharf. I’d go again if I’m in the area.

Probably not a good idea to visit this Turkish café if you’re on a calorie controlled diet. However if you’re looking for some very tasty home cooked cuisine, in the Canary Wharf area, this place is well worth a go. Recommend the hummus, spinach in yoghurt and any of the quiches. Very friendly service too and reasonably priced.

We’ve just arrived from a week in Turkey, and stumbled on Hezev. It’s a wonderful place. Amazing selection of food and coffee, everything tasted great, and we ate a great breakfast for under £18. Enjoy!

I’ve been to Hazev quite a few times as it’s just round the corner from my work place. Food wise — I have tried more authentic Turkish dishes. There is some artificiality in the texture of the food and the way it’s being served — however I can still call it quite tasty and I like the typical for Turkish restaurants ‘dish sharing possibility’. The good thing according to me about this place is that it has three parts: the bar part, the main restaurant part and the coffee/lunch part so it’s good for any occasion. Although the entrance doors are separate for each part, there are doors inside in between the parts that enable you to change the location accordingly. I pass this place at least twice every day. Its location right by the path next to the Thames and its ‘olive tree style’ decorations with tiny lights on the trees outside make you feel want to ‘pop in for a while’ after a long day…

Meh. I think that kinda sums this place up. I had an awesome eve but that was mostly thanks to the company and err the rather yummy bottle of malbec we ordered. Meanwhile the food is pretty average; we went for a selection of unpronounceable hot and cold starters to share, but you know a menu is lacking when the humus and bread is the most moreish thing you eat(mmm SO good though — just get 5 rounds of that!). The service was… confusing. Veering between over-attentively refilling our wine to spillage point and running out after us with the umbrella I’d left behind(yay), to being distracted by a conversation with a fellow waitress whilst taking our order and taking 15mins to bring the bill after we asked. Not ideal. Nice place to try if you’re in the area — good veggie choice and there’s pretty enough views of the river, but I don’t feel the need to go back in a hurry.

Everything in the Isle of Dogs is so weird, there’s so much WATER and GLASS and DECKING. It’s pretty beautiful actually but also you feel like something is about to go REALLYWRONG like a meteorite hitting. It would be a great set for a disaster-in-space movie to have its On Earth Denoument. Anyway…Hazev is not quite so dramatic. I don’t know — it’s nice? It’s clean? It has Turkish Food? It has Turkish wine actually, which was exciting(although more for novelty value than absolute deliciousness. Not that I know anything about wine). It has quite a cool design — one end is a café & deli, one end is a bar. All of it is beautifully decorated although maybe its a tad impersonal(but that’s in keeping with the style of the area). Food is standard and neither bad nor good. The dolma didn’t taste freshly made, the kofte was decent(I should have had the sucuk but I was kind of on a date so was avoiding garlic although really why was I worried considering that person once kissed me after eating McDonalds: the horror). I’ve had too many liquorice allsorts and have overshared in this review. Must edit later.

This place is a weird collaboration between Tas(who I don’t like) and Haz(who I do, but not that much). The food is merely ok, though the décor, atmosphere and service are pretty good and it feels very spacious. The portions are smaller than you’ll find at the likes of Alounak or Sadaf in Bayswater who offer similar(ok Lebanese not Turkish) food on the grilled side, and Sofra has a better offering for the mezze side of things(but I am not a fan of mezze generally). It does make a nice change from the usual boring chain stuff around Canary Wharf though so if you work in the area it’s well worth a visit.

I’ve been here on three separate occasions and thus figured it was time to give the Hazev a write up. I do like the location as it does have plenty of indoor seating along with the entire bar which has an nice view of the wharf area. In the better months, there is also outside seating. The interior is nicely decorated, a little bit ecliptic but all in good taste. The seating however is perhaps a bit tight, especially when at full capacity to which point this place is very loud. Atmosphere rating = 4 stars I personally like the bar area as there is plenty of room to mill about and can accommodate large gatherings. Even when the bar area is packed, the bartenders do a good job at keep the drinks flowing. Bar rating = 4 stars We got the fixed menu where they bring out a bunch of starters all of which is Turkish, thus made up of dishes designed to be mopped up with bread. In my view the starters are really good and if not careful, they can end up being your meal due to overeating on the starters and being full when the main meal comes. I like the varied textures and temperatures of the starters and they go along very well as you converse with your friends. Starters rating = 5 stars For the main meal, I’ve now tried two different types of lamb and one chicken. The first lamb and chicken where variations of kabobs and in both cases I found the meat to be very dry and hugely disappointing. The other lamb meal came with plenty of sauce and sitting on top of some mushy stuff which… at least is was not dry this time but I found it very bland. Main meal rating = 1 star The waiters were friendly and helpful in terms of giving better descriptions of the menu, but boy were they slow. Now, I will admit the slow rate of which the food was coming to the table is partially due to the speed of the kitchen, but my God, there is no excuse for them to take 15 minutes to even start taking our drink orders… it was much quicker in going to the bar. Even bringing out the starters they were very slow in getting all of them out. When the main meal came, they also mixed up several of the orders as well. Wait staff rating = 2

Had the £10.95 dinner menu where you can choose 2 different dishes. I chose the lentil soup and the chicken shish. Before the food came, we had bread with hummus which was delicious. The lentil soup was pretty good. The chicken shish… that’s a different story. The chicken was so dry! What’s up with dry chicken! Service was ok, the waitress wasn’t very pleasant.
