So I normally book a standby appointment to get it cheaper than normal and I’ve mostly been really pleased with my experiences there. They’re lovely, polite, chatty but not too chatty and most importantly, of high quality. I’ve been surprised a couple of times by how they interpret my instructions but pleased with the results pretty much every time. I wish I’d noted down a few of their names to give them a shout out but generally I know I’m in safe hands when I’m at Headmasters!

I love my fringe and I hate it at the same time since you have to have it cut over and over again! In Switzerland I always found hairdressers that cut fringes for free but in London this seemed a bit more difficult. At one place they first said 1.95 pounds and then changed to 4.99 just before they wanted to start and the next place was 5.00 pounds from the start. And then I found Headmasters: They do it for free! I had to wait about 15min since all the stylists were busy, but that’s alright when you just walk in. They did a great job and were really friendly! I might even come here next time to get highlights done, they seem to know what they do!

I love this salon and have been going for the past year. It’s clean, they offer a selection of drinks and magazines, and give a mean head massage when they’re washing your hair. I’ve been going to Amy for awhile now for my color and honestly don’t trust anyone else(even in the salon — I’ve had/heard of a couple of less desirable visits with less experienced colorists). She’s super sweet and really listens to what you like. I constantly have to move around my appointments because I’m either traveling or working, but they’re very understanding but I always give them at least a week’s notice. They have amazing deals: — «Me day Mondays» get you a full head of highlights, cut, and color for £99, — color sale: 50% off any color treatment with any stylist(but fine print is that they charge you for a blowdry if you don’t get a cut along with your color) — standby appointments: call up to a few hours before you want to get your hair cut and they’ll do it for £28(womens), but you don’t really get to choose a stylist. If you’re not picky, that’s a great deal. Used to be £25. Oh well. — Random other deals, check the website! If you’re going for just a cut, any stylist in the salon is great. If you’re going for complicated color or if you have difficult hair to dye, ask for Amy. She’s pricey, but so worth it!

Not cheap, but certainly cheerful. After walking up and down King Street with a mop of hair begging to get cut off, I finally came across Headmasters. This brighter than bright modern décor hairdressers is home to a rare thing — a whole of hairdressers that actually listen to what you want and give you the goods . They also get extra marks for their ace head massages, cappuccinos and magazines.(I love nothing more than a magazine in place of small talk, unsociable little so and so I am) Sign up to their site for cheap deals!

In the U.S. it’s easy to find reviews on just about anything — so when I needed my hair colored in London, wasn’t sure where to turn. Took a chance on Headmasters due to it’s proximity to work & home. I had an appointment with Amy who is a head stylist/manager. She perfectly matched my color to the existing one — so I went back a couple of months later for a color & cut. That was 2 weeks ago. I wanted a bit of a change — while I loved my very long hair, it definitely needed more shape. Amy not only did a great color job, but also an amazing haircut. She chopped quite a bit off so it’s a bit past my shoulders & gave it amazing shape. No matter what I do, it looks fantastic — even when I wake up! With colored, graying(prematurely) & frizzy hair — I’m sooooo happy that Amy was able to find a cut that suits me & manages my hair. I honestly don’t know how the salon compares to others in price or atmosphere(although the cappucino & cookie were lovely), as I’ve used no others since coming here in August.
